The crying about Cassidy being a bad coach and how he should be fired is embarrassing. I really wish people could be better.
Agreed. If people want someone to be fired, just look at Sweeney. The bad free agent signings (Backes, Beleskey, Moore) in addition to having to give up a 1st just to get rid of the useless Backes, the bad trades (Hamilton-Calgary trade, Rinaldo, Hayes, Ritchie), and bad draft picks (Zboril, Senyshyn, Frederic, etc.). The complete abomination that was the 2015 draft weekend is a fireable offense when he traded Hamilton for scraps and turned down better offers, and passed on 2 studs that somehow fell to him. Not to mention, going THREE STRAIGHT YEARS with a hole on the 2nd line. That's on Sweeney, not Cassidy. Cassidy is just coaching the flawed roster that Sweeney gave him. If anyone needs to go, it's Sweeney (and Neely).

I think coaches get too much credit for winning (Claude Julien) and too much blame for losing (Mike Sullivan). My biggest problem with coaches is familiarity. The veterans get too comfortable with the coaching staff and lose that edge that powers them through adversity. That same familiarity naturally causes problems with the roster. Although the GM is responsible for acquiring the players, it is the coach that decides who plays when and where. I feel Cassidy is too much of a "player's coach" and lacks the intensity needed to push the players to their full potential. I believe the Bruins should be looking for his replacement.

Literally insane. He sucked and was such a players coach that he helped get them to the finals last year, and had them so comfortable that they were the best team in the league until a global pandemic shut down the world. They certainly didn't come back from that break like the team they were before, but I put that on the situation and not the coaching staff or players. It's a one off scenario that has literally never happened before.

Totally agree. BTW my only displeasure with Cassidy is his handling of Cehlarik....

Sorry had to get that off my chest. LOL

Cehlarik is and will always be one of the most grossly overrated player's in this organization's history. The guy had 3 decent games and then sucked the rest of the time he was given chances. Cassidy didn't mishandle anything. The player simply wasn't that good.

Insane???? Really ????

None of the things you listed mean anything more than the ones I listed. In fact, I believe by winning the Cup in 2011 and keeping Julien, the Bruins actually hurt their chances of winning more Cups with a very solid roster. This is my opinion. It carries ZERO weight with the actual Bruins organization. Unless you are in the Bruins management, I assume your opinion carries the same weight as mine, so please try to understand that we are supposed to be having a discussion.

Cassidy isn’t going anywhere. He’s up for the coach of the year award (JA) . They got into the finals last year. Sweeney is going anywhere as well When he won the GM award last year. Did they he get stupid this year.. no... Did Cassidy make some poor decisions in the playoffs .. yes . Moore over Clifton.. no .. waited so long for benching Ritchie and not playing Studnicka..would’ve not mattered anyway because Tampa hammered them in that game. But it still doesn’t mean it was a poor decision.

I think it would be highly disingenuous for Sweeney to build a flawed roster and then hang it on Cassidy after he took that roster with key holes and coached it up to be one of the best teams in the league. This shouldn't even be a topic for discussion. It's that laughable.

But that's what all GMs in every sport do- they throw their coaching staffs under the bus when the GM's moves don't work out. We've all seen it happen. Why would Sweeney be any different? Answer: He wouldn't. He'd fire Cassidy & Co today if he thought it would prevent his own firing.

So you posted something and thought everyone would merely agree with your view and deign you correct? Isn't the point of a message board to share and debate differences of opinions? It's fine if you don't want that, but if so, I misunderstood the reason you posted. And who said anything about anyone's opinions being more valid than someone else's? Your opinion is that Cassidy is the problem, while I disagree. The roster has had a complete lack of secondary scoring for years now, and when the playoffs come around, the way you stop the Bruins is to shut down the top line. Once you do that, this team is very one dimensional. But again, that's a roster construction issue and not a coaching one.

You can chose to respond with your opinion on why I'm wrong to say that or not. Completely up to you.

Not even a question. It's what they all do. And Neely would do that same thing to Sweeney if he needed to as well. But as fans that follow this team in a die hard manner, how you accept that falsehood is beyond me. It's more than obvious that the roster has had the same holes in it since day one of Sweeney's tenure. He's tried and failed to fill them multiple times, to the point where even the most tone deaf fans have to realize even he sees the issue.

And ultimately, that is what all owners and/or team Presidents do when the GM's moves haven't worked out and the coach is already sacked: can the GM. It always rolls down hill

Of course but I think the question was will one be fired or both right now. ( if) wasn’t involved

As fans we "accept" it because what else is there to do? If Cassidy got sacked tomorrow, most of us here would know the blame really lay with Sweeney who gave Cassidy the roster- a flawed roster that Bruce has actually done very well with in spite of its shortcomings. We will still be Bruins fans and hope for the best for the next coach. If Sweeney continues to not address roster failings, he's next, as whoever would replace Cassidy would be the third coach under his tenure that could not make chicken salad out of chicken shit (and I exaggerate, for all its flaws, Sweeney has not destroyed the team, but just left some work undone).

Neely got Claude and PC out he’s on the tight rope now , the boomerang is pointed in his direction again.

Hell anyone with 2 functioning brain cells that follows this team closely knows what the problem is and who is responsible for it. But we're the exception- casual Bruins fans neither know nor care and sadly there are more of them than there are of us.

They literally had another chance at a cup in 2013, two years later with Julien....and you think that by keeping him they hurt their chances? How so? Would Bergeron be healthy those playoffs if it wasn't for Julien or something?

In any company and or industry.....

When I was younger I used to wish the CEO would just take the relatively small piece of shit in his hand, walk down to my cubicle, and throw it at my head. I say that because by the time it had rolled down and over all of his subordinates and their subordinates and their subordinates and got to me?? It was just a massive unavoidable stinking pile of shit. Again, if the CEO just skipped all that and just come down and flung his handful at me? Who knows, I was pretty agile in those days!!!!

Bad decisions and poor asset management aren't related though. If you think they mishandled Cehlarik or others, it's at an organizational level and not at the coaching staff level, IMO. Like what we've seen with Senyshyn and how they've taken an offensively minded player and tried to recreate his entire game from the ground up to be a grinder/defensive specialist. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's what they've done.

my problem with Cassidy is he is too even keeled and passive. show some fire out there, the team would feed off it

behind the bench, and infront of the media he is no emotion and mundane. that has translated to the team's play. they are passive and dont get fired up when someone pushes them around. that is not Bruins hockey nor is it winning hockey.

they have the same mentality as the 2011 Canucks or the smurf Habs teams of the early 00s

What about some new assistants for Cassidy? Sacco and Pandolfo strike me as yes men that want to live in Boston won’t really stir the pot or show any emotion. What about a guy that will challenge Bruce instead. Craig Ramsay is coaching somewhere in Europe right now.
