what's so funny about his numbers? it's not like we have Canucks fans hyping him.
With good reason, there is nothing to hype! Look,he is a fine young player, who really shouldn't be compared to Kadri .
Kadri has 4/5 years on him, sees top line centers on a regular basis(maybe not this year)has some moxie and potted 30 goals two years in a row. Maybe Bo pots 30 in his prime, but right now Kadri is the better player! Also, his contract is very cap friendly.

Horvat now. Horvat in the future. He’s asked to do so much more on a terrible team. And he’s improved dramatically each year.
Of course he has slightly less points than Kadri. He’s been put in a much tougher position at a younger age.
Add to that he’s the future captain and a leader while Kadri showed he can be a selfish player in last years playoffs. I like the fact he plays with an edge but you have to pick your spots and put your team first.
Kadri’s a fine player whose shown he can pot 30 goals and play decently defensively.
But I doubt there’s a GM in the league who would take Kadri over Horvat. Not one.

Kadri easily. Don't think Horvat will ever be near his level during his career.

With Horvat you're already looking at a 23 year old with 300 career games, don't know what all this talk of "potential", it's very likely that this is as good as he'll ever be.

Well last year Horvat had a better PPG, better P/60, better P1/60, better raw CF%, better relCF%, better GF%, better relGF%, better xGF%, and better relxGF%, so that's pretty good comparatively even if he doesn't improve

Kadri was a late-bloomer too, so that argument really doesn't make sense in this case

When Kadri was Horvat's age he scored 44 points in 48 games.

Horvat's done nothing to even be in the discussion with Kadri.

I'm not trying to argue Horvat is better, to me it's Kadri.
I'm saying it's not right to say this is all Horvat will be when the guy you're comparing him to changed value drastically later in his career.
He wasn't always a defensively-responsible, 30g centre.

Which was a mirage propped up by insane on-ice shooting as shown by his totals the next few years

Unsurprisingly, you didn't look at the big picture.

Kadri has outproduced Horvat at his younger ages and has outproduced him in recent years too. I'm really not interested in your cherry-picked arguments.

In reality, chances are that if Horvat got to play with Marner and co. he'd push Tavares down to the third line.
Let's not get silly he's not bumping Tavares anywhere. He absolutely would bump Kadri (or one of them would have to play wing)

A lot of the “fans” here need to develop some sense of shame. Nobody seems to care about making themselves look foolish or about killing their credibility in terms of understanding this sport.

Horvat: 14G 14A for 28P in 32 GP while playing with scrubs like Schaller, Motte, and Granlund, takes the most faceoffs in the entire league, and is 5 years younger.

Kadri: 8G 8A for 16P in 30 GP on a stacked Leafs offense.

This thread didn't age well for Leafs homers.
Leafs usually bump old threads so this must be unpleasant.

It is not silly. Tavares only has 4 more points while playing with Marner. Take a look at Horvat's linemates.
