As a free agent, with zero asset acquisition cost that would be signed to a 925k contract with performance bonuses - I fail to see a downside to signing a player like Schuldt.
Perhaps but there are finite number of contracts you can have. I’ve never seen him. He may be fantastic. Just skeptical.

There’s been an unusually high mentions of the same name today.

Lou Korac, John Kelly, Jeremy Rutherford, Randy Karraker, and Bernie all made mention of Carolina defenseman Justin Faulk specifically to come aid the powerplay.

I don’t know if they’re looking to sell with them being right in the thick of the race in the East but I found it interesting how many times I heard Faulk’s name today across Twitter and 101.1
Doesn’t seem like Doug’s style to have something like this leak out. If anything it’s a smoke screen but most likely just a coincidence that a bunch of meh reporters had the same meh thought.

Perhaps. But our interest in both Schenn and ROR was rumored in advance of deals.

Still think Zuccarello could really benefit this team (especially if Perron isn’t coming back), even though I highly doubt they go for a rental.

Schenn-O’Reilly-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Thomas-Zuccarello
Steen-Bozak-Maroon
Fabbri-Barbashev-Sundqvist
Sanford

Or if Perron is back

Perron-O’Reilly-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Schenn-Zuccarello
Fabbri-Bozak-Thomas
Steen-Barbashev-Sundqvist
Maroon
Sanford

I think he will only help whoever gets him.
Love Zucc and totally agree he will help whoever gets him. He would be a very good fit on the Blues if Perron is expected to miss significant time...but the price may be too steep for me.

ROR there was, but I don’t remember anything about Schenn.
There was some smoke around Schenn IIRC. Think Armstrong was on record about liking him as a player. There may have been talks/rumors about a Shattenkirk trade but I’m not 100% sure about that one.

I don't want anything to do with Faulk. We already have Pietrangelo and Parayko ahead of him on RD. Do we get him solely as a PP specialist? What would we do with him going forward? I don't like his play in his own zone. No need to waste assets on him. Hard pass.

How good does everyone have Lindholm rated? Would he be worth moving Eddy and Fabbri for?
I do it in a heart beat but as Simon IC said...doubt Anaheim do it.

Normally I'd feel bad, but we'd be sending them to Anaheim California, so I would NOT feel bad.

Now with all that said, if that's the start of a package they'll take. Then Doug better give up the cookies too

I don't think adding one particular player is necessarily going to be the difference between having a below average PP unit and a top ten unit. It seems to be more of a structural flaw than not having the pieces on the ice to make it click. That is something that will have to be dealt with in the off-season, and hopefully with 24 games remaining that will be enough time to to work out the kinks to at least be a productive but not lethal unit.

I completely agree. Our PP problems are in execution, not personnel. A team with Pietrangelo, Tarasenko and Parayko should not be struggling on the PP.

Without question. I'm a huge advocate of Fabbri and being patient with the process of him regaining his form. But if a true #1 LHD the likes of Lindholm is the return, I would wish him luck on a great career and tell him enjoy the palm trees.

I had conversations with their fans, and they made it clear that Faulk is by no means an answer for anyone's powerplay. He's a shooter. Honestly, neither Petro or Parayko can run a power play. It is a problem, but I'm fine with sitting tight to address it or not address it after the season.

I'd definitely like to see them take a run at college senior LHD Jimmy Schuldt of St Cloud University. He's going to have several suitors - I'd expect Montréal to make a serious run at his, given the time he's spent playing with Ryan Poeling.

Was a hobey baker nominee, and made team captain in his sophomore year. Close to PPG pace through years 3-4, set to enter UFA as an undrafted free agent this summer.
Absolutely would do this. If we have a finite number of contracts, then get rid of what amounts to not being a prospect. We have three open spots I believe. Be a strong needed move as we have little on the left side for near ready prospects. Some good forwards in this class of college free agents as well. Could use some talent in San Antonio that is near NHL ready.

I agree, but my big fear is that we need the PP in the playoffs to go deep. It continues to be a problem.

That’s always been the quandary of Petro and Parayko being similar. It works for what it works at, but it leaves a gap. Their partners never can be overly offensive or the righties lose their best attribute. Will help when Perron is back immensely.

I have never understood, why we don't set our PP up like Washington. Use Tank in a similar manner to Ovi....

We'd need to set up more like Toronto.

I see shades of it now. A down low triangle. I'm no sure what the actual name is.

Robert Thomas ran a PP in juniors, Vince Dunn ran a PP also. The Blues have the pieces, just need the coaches to deploy them correctly and get them moving correctly.

My main evidence this is coaching....Maroon is still on the PP

Absolutely!

It's quite clear Thomas is becoming a monster on the PP! His IQ and passing is top notch on the man advantage.

Maroon has no business being on the PP anymore. He is so clearly dragging it down. He has 2 PP goals over the last 2 seasons. Berube is just romanticizing the need for a big body in front of the net at this point.

It would make sense if they utilized him in that role and used point shots from parayko. They don't though...he's like a set up man behind the net...which is bewildering
