Because it was a trade that happened
That is just not true.
Because it was a trade that happened
Panarin for Saad is a different kettle of fish than Hall for Larsson.Panarin for Saad is one of the worst trades in recent memory and I feel like people barely mention it compared to how many times you see "lol Hall for Larsson".
Gagner for boqvist
Lesss go

Hawks had won 3 cup and right or wrong paid their core with term and NMC's
They only had so many options of viable players for trades. Panarin was going to get big money and Saad was locked down for 6M. Having Panarin for the past two years though nice wouldn't have made a difference in making the PO's. It was as all trades are .. a gamble .. but with hindsight it was the right way to go. Hawks are in a rebuild and have to ride out the big 5 or 6 contracts to the core.
And again .. I think any GM in the league would take 1 cup let along 3! to have the track record Stan has with the moves he's made over the past 8 years.
Get Kostitsyn back over too and get the knights line going again.
Gagner played pretty well in his recent call up. I'm surprised he got sent down. He could be a good add for the hawks. He could be had for a 5th or 6th round pick.
Why does everyone still think the hawks have cap problems?
It wasn't that the Hawks didn't want to pay Saad 6mil, it was that they couldn't afford to cap wise. This is the same player who was let go because Bowman didn't want to pay him what he asked for which was....you guessed it 6m per and yet traded for him only to pay him...you guessed it...6m per...perfect example of what an idiot Bowman is.
