Pissed as a Canucks fan.

#1. Never should have been sent down.
#2. Played well when called up
#3. Never should have been sent down, again.
#4. Serviceable skilled player and excellent on pp.
#5. Makes recruitment of future free agents more challenging based on how he has been treated.
This. In typical Canuck coach(any) fashion, not being used according to his skill set

Gagner plays like he doesn't care 90% of the time, if Im the Blackhawks I stay faar away from him.

I wonder if Kane has gotten grumbly about all the losing, maybe dreaming out loud about Labatt and some butter and hot sauce mixed together, and they're just looking at his old buddy.

Considering all our recent signings this is probably not a bad thing

Reading your post history it seems you were wanting for guys like Goldobin, Leipsic Virtanen ( young guys ) to make the team and to get rid of the old vets and rebuild via youth.

So Canucks did exactly that and send down Gagner who is a massive floater and then you complain ??

#3. After being called up, Gagner has to get re-sent back down before either 30 days or 10 games w. The Canucks or he will be waiver eligible when going back down.

Obvioisly Benning has been getting trade interest from teams so why lose Gagner for nothing ?? His 30 days/10 games is coming up.

This way we can trade him rather than a team picking him up for free on waivers.

He played well during the call up.

Gagner played pretty well in his recent call up. I'm surprised he got sent down. He could be a good add for the hawks. He could be had for a 5th or 6th round pick.

FTFY.

I guess he hasn't stunk out the joint since his call up... he does have the talent to look good from time to time... but honestly the guy is garbage the the Hawks are welcome to him.

I like that you did your research. And yes, I would much rather youth be playing.

Except, if you’re going to have vets like Schaller and Eriksson on the team then at bare minimum hold everyone to the same standard.

Gagner should be in the lineup over at least a couple of vets.

It seems like the Canucks actually have a bit of a organizational issue with youth, Palmu, Gadovich both sat for AHL vets in Utica tonight.

Which couple of Vets sbould Gagner make the team over.

Keep in mind he needs to be in top 6 because he would be absoloutely useless in a bottom 6 role.

Canucks current top 6 IMO

Goldobin - Pettersson - Boeser
Leivo- Horvat - Virtanen.

Baertschi somewhere in there when healthy.

So who should Gagner surplant ?

The vets ur talking about are bottom six players ( Eriksson Motte Schaller Granlund) Gagner isnt battling those guys for spots.

I would argue that Gagner could help more than the above mentioned in the bottom six.

Do Eriksson, Schaller or Granlund bring much in terms of offensive production? Hitting? Pp? No they don’t. Maybe they help a bit on the Canucks terrible pk but they would be easily replaceable.

Further to that, Gagner had his 50 point season in Cbj on the 4th with pp time.

Yet, Schaller and Eriksson have been given (not earned) top 6 minutes throughout the year.

It’s not like he’s a part of the future, so it’s a mute point.

But it’s an accountability that just doesn’t seem equal for the entire team.

I would guess Rutta for Gagner at half price. The timing of Murphy being back and this comes out is no coincidence

I'd do that from a Canucks perspective. Not really sure where Rutta fits if guys are healthy, with Tanev, Gudbranson, Stecher as RHD. But injuries and opportunities are sure to crop up, and it's not like Gagner is doing anything for the Canucks. Eating half his salary for another year seems doable. Canucks could afford to give a D like Rutta a chance to do something.

It'd obviously have to be some sort of retention and/or salary coming back like that though. Obviously not Seabrook bad, but something like Kruger would fit the bill and get the Canucks out from Gagner's contract a year early...though i don't think there'd be much (if any) retention in that scenario.

Seems like the Hawks are probably just eyeing up whether Gagner might be able to help them out as a "PP Specialist". If you can find a way to use him like Columbus a couple years back, playing a minimal 4th line role and prominent PP niche part...maybe you get some production out of him, don't notice the liability aspects so much, and give your PP a little jolt. He does still have skill and vision, when he has the room to actually use it...like on the PP.

Not familar with 670 score

Are they a reliable source ?
The specific guy who wrote the tweet is one of only two guys HF Hawks puts a lot of faith in when it comes to sources.

So if he said the Hawks have interest, us Hawks fan believe him.
