I honestly think their greatest strength (a group of talented young players coming through the league together) has suddenly turned against them. Their core (Nylander, Matthews, Marner) have all become millionaires together in a city where they are basically worshipped.

It's pretty common to see young players take a step back after their first big contract, it's normal, off the ice adjustments happen. Toronto is just seeing it with their entire core now. Combine that with a poor excuse for a defense, it's gonna suck for a bit. They are probably still a playoff team.
