Land of no calls..
So Trotz is basically saying he's going to the Islanders for a ton of money He must've had that in his back pocket, otherwise why risk it? There's only one open job in the league aside from the Caps, right?

Someone may look at Trotz as an upgrade to their current coach and maybe he becomes a replacement. I'm still not convinced that he's not back in Wash next year. This may be more of a go explore your market and help justify the number you are asking us to pay you

Barry to the fishdicks confirmed. They will probably give up a 2nd for Grubby and make him the netminder.

I think Trotz would use the Isles as leverage to get what he wants. The only other thing I can think of is his son's medical issues.

I'd like to see the playoffs eliminated like the EPL. If even the Head Coaches don't care about a chance to win 2 playoffs in a row, why should the fans care about the playoffs?

Coaches don't count against the cap. If Washington isn't willing to pay the market rate for a top coach, then good for Barry not being afraid to step out.

Thinking Trotz takes the year off. Islanders position is nowhere near enticing enough especially with JT91 up in the air. Could see it happening if JT is re-signed, but, does JT re-sign without a coach? Just gave myself a headache.

Unless a team goes full maverick and fires their coach to grab Trotz, I suspect there will be some more enticing options in the near future.

I don't understand trotz leaving. If 1.8 million isn't enough, can't he just sign a new, better deal with washington? Or has their gm decided that 1.8 is the max for a cup winning coach.

From what I read, they negotiated a bigger pay, but they couldn't reach a deal.

AFAIK, 1.8x2 was the extension terms that came out from winning the Cup.

Reportedly, Trotz wants 5.5x5 and Leonsis isn't a fan of the 5 years.

Okay thanks, hadn't read anywhere about the 5.5x5 until now. Barry all about dat paper now.
I think it was closer to 5x5.

I mean, I get why he asked for that much. It'll likely be one of, if not, the last big chance for a payday. And he has a kid with special needs, so he'd like for that to be secure as well.
