this is the world we live in? Where JT is convinced by Mats Sundin on a video saying how great it is to play for a team that hasn't won a playoff round in 14 years?

what the ****....

this is nothing new...the majority of the rangers failed free agent signings of the late 90s started with someone from the team showing up at the players house at 12:01am with a homemade dvd

I think it was closer to 5x5.

I mean, I get why he asked for that much. It'll likely be one of, if not, the last big chance for a payday. And he has a kid with special needs, so he'd like for that to be secure as well.

Like 1.8M a year for multiple years can't take care of a special needs child. Come on now. I'm all for the guy wanting to get paid, but let's be real as to why he wants more money...he feels he's earned it.

AFAIK, 1.8x2 was the extension terms that came out from winning the Cup.

Reportedly, Trotz wants 5.5x5 and Leonsis isn't a fan of the 5 years.

$5M is a lot.

Julien makes $5M, Babcock makes $6.25M, Quennville makes $6M

All those guys have multiple cups.

AV got $2M/year for 5 years, and after year 4, his contract was ripped up and he was given $4M/year for 2 years. 6 Total Years, $16M. $2.67M average yearly salary.

CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Trotz won't get more than $4M on the open market. He doesn't have the pedigree. Now, if Leonisis could't give him a $2M/year bump, that's stupid on his part.

It'd be great to play in Toronto. Their fanbase is crazy and if you are a good player you are worshiped.

It's why I wanted the rangers to make the move...of course there's always the risk of distrupting a very young locker room

Wonder if San Jose will draft Merkley?

I think they are going with the Mr Burns theory

Honestly, forget about an expansion team for Quebec City, they should just move Ottawa there. They didn’t sell out the conference finals against Pittsburgh, the few fans that they do have will riot when they trade Karlsson and potentially the first pick next year. Makes too much sense. Ottawa is on the border with Quebec too so there’ll be fans in place already.

Hoffman + 2018 7th for 2019 2nd, 2018 4th, and 2018 5th

SJ just cleared a bunch of cap space. Tavares pitch incoming.

Holy shit. What a three way!

To SJS:
2018 4th
2018 5th
2019 2nd
2020 5th
Cody Donaghey
Cleared $4M in cap space, saved $6M in real $ in the next 2 years

To OTT:
Mikkel Boedker
Julius Bergman
2020 6th
Cleared $1.2M in cap space, saved $5.3M in real $ in the next 2 years

To Florida
Hoffman
2018 7th
Takes on 5.187M in cap space

San Jose not only got 2 extra mid round picks out of it, but they just cleared $4M in cap space, $6M in real dollars for the next 2 years.

Well, I guess that takes Florida out of being a potential landing spot for Zuccarello.

Unfortunately, it does... Florida capitalized on Hoffman's value being completely tanked--they paid a 2018 4th, 2018 5th, and a 2019 2nd... What a f***ing indirect fleecing against Ottawa.

His GF must be the person responsible for the Instagram burner accounts.
