Have a look at Laine's shootout wrist shot from outside the faceoff circles - not a Laine fan but that shot was unbelievable. Impossible to read, lightning fast and precise. wowzy!

Yeah. That was a combo Snipe-while-moving goal.

No chance in hell of the Toronto Goaltender (or any goaltender) of stopping it.

It's not gaslighting. Statistically, it is what Hynes coached teams did. It would've been very challenging to see it through the horrendous goaltending.

Luckily he has better goaltending in Nash...what's that? Rinne and Saros are both sub .900 goalies? Disregard.

You surprised? The hockey minds have always loved Hynes despite his consistent lack of results.

I wonder how much of it is superficial. He has that enduring scowl on his face, and combines old school hockey mentality with a bunch of corporate/business type lingo when he talks. Amanda Stein mentioned that Hynes was very accommodating to her and the press, moreso than other coaches have been, I imagine that can't hurt either.

Which is weird because he says absolutely nothing to the press. Nas is way more candid.

You have to consider that many of the people who speak highly of him have worked with him on a regular basis and probably don't see things the same way we fans, who have likely never even met Hynes much less been around him on a regular basis, do. It's a lot easier to say "Hynes sucks" from behind a computer screen when you don't know the man personally, unlike somebody like Amanda, or Steve and Dano, or even the players. Not everybody views these things in terms of purely wins and losses. And I'm not saying Hynes is a great coach or anything, but when that many people speak highly of somebody, there has to be some reason for it.

LOL what, Hynes teams suppress high-danger chances? The media ****ing of this guy is really getting into gaslight territory now.

His system did suppress high danger chances on paper. I also think his system works on paper more than on ice; I think future tracking modeling would show Hynes system of giving weak side players tons of time and space with screens in front is a much higher danger chance than the current models notice.

Yea Hynes' system did suppress high danger chances seemingly at the expense of generating them as well. I guess with him coaching another team we will see if that was more on our own players being inept at offence or a consequence of the system itself. Caveat being that how high danger chances are being qualified translates to on-ice results.

Stevens is currently advocating that Kassian "railroad" Gaudreau since Tkachuk didn't get suspended. I agree with his sentiment that star players get special treatment and guys like Kassian are free game. Bad double standard.

Good thing the rangers got panarin now and not a few years ago. Will be interesting to see if he keeps this up for the duration of his contract

He got max term right? I doubt he will, but he is going to be good for large portion of it barring injury.

There issue is going to be getting him proper center help
