Refs are brutal, giving TB a chintzy penalty late in the 3rd for Boston to score their 3 pp goal of the night to tie the game...happens every time you play in Boston, you gotta beat the refs and the Bruins.

NHL refs are a joke because they spend their time trying to "manage" the game.

Their job isnt to make sure each team should have equal opportunity, rather it should be to just enforce the rules

Yeah, the fact that our last game is a very unusual case just speaks to Menz's point. That should happen when one team is much more undisciplined than the other. Instead you get a 4-2 or 4-3 divide.

There's a few teams around the league that makes it a tactic to tip toe the line as much as possible, because they have figured out exactly this. If they do a borderline infraction three times, they might get one penalty. If they do it ten, they might get two.

Interference penalties are spread rather evenly across all teams. Yet if you actually watch for it, some teams might do those borderline picks three times as much as another. Just as an example.

Interesting contract, and gamble on both sides. It could end up paying off handsomely for the Devils, but this is more about potential, than what has been delivered so far.

Yup, definitely inflated a little because of being a recent 1st overall. If he doesnt top 55 points for the 3rd year in a row that contract will start to look questionable

Dubas looks a fool with RFA deals yet again. Not convinced that is a steal or anything, but at least they got 7 years.

The difference between 6 and 7 years is huge?

Marner was overpaid by 1-1.5.

But hischier looks about the same?

To me, this is a gamble of a contract from both sides. If Hischier doesn't take the expected steps forward, it's a massive overpay. If he does reach his potential, it's him taking a massive discount. This really was one of those situations, where a two or three year bridge would have made more sense.
