Fremen select, D, Shea Weber

143616454.jpg

A big man back on D......6-4, 230 lbs. of lethal slap shooting power. Weber possesses one of the hardest slap shots in the game.

Has goal seasons of 17, 23, 16, 16, 19, 23, 15, 20, and 17 to his credit. Averaging 17 goals per full NHL season.

6x's all star game

2x's 1st team NHL all-star, and 2x's, 2nd team NHL all star.

Has been chosen for Team Canada for 2 different Olympics, scoring 12 points in 13 games.

Round 7, 82nd overall... The Puck Time Pilots select... Dino Ciccarelli!!

DINO COMPLETE.jpg

Accomplishments:
4-time All Star
608 career goals ( 19th all time)
592 career assists ( 91st all time)
1,200 career points ( 47th all time)
232 career PP goals ( 10th all time)

Tough, mean, nasty, aggravating, but with great scoring hands, a sense to shoot the puck whenever possible, and even for his rather smaller size, a net front presence, particularly on the PP.

Dino was always a royal PITA for the opponents no matter who he played for. His best offensive years were with the North Stars, but his Caps years, his Red Wing years, and down to his Lightning years, saw him become a more balanced player....able to still score, and set up a linemate just as easily.

Goalies and defensemen didn't like his net front standing around nor his yapping and his 1,425 PIMs in 1.232 games played indicated he was not shy about getting his hands dirty.

Dino really was the complete package...offensive guy (in more ways than one!), checking specialist, especially later on, agitator (to the extreme), and team leader (particularly with the bunch of outcasts in Tampa Bay when he was there)….Dino pretty much did it all.

After mourning the loss of Dino Ciccarelli from my team at the hands of @TropicalFruitGirl2, team Doblett of Fire jumped in front of @BMC to select 3 time Stanley Cup champion RW Marian Hossa.

Hossa, IMO, clearly one of the best 2 way wingers of this generation.

The Fremen are happy to select, with the 8th round selection, 88th overall.......C- Jonathan Toews

1435212765841

Everyone here is aware that the Canadian media and Hawks fans have built up Toews into some sort of superstar. Is he a Top 100 player of ALL TIME?? Hell no. Is he a top 100 player in this draft, I definitely think so. He is right there with some of the best two way Centers in this generation. A notch below Bergeron, and right there with Kopitar, (I personally think Toews is better, but they are close, and it's arguable.)

And the Fremen are placing him properly. He will be our 3rd line Center, which he is perfectly suited to play. We won't be asking him to match the high scoring superstars of other teams top lines. But we will be very confident that he can play a shut down role, and also play offensive contributor.

I say all that, just in case some people view him as Mr. Overrated, and Mr. Intangibles. It's not his fault he was oversold by Canadian vanity. Let's not forget how good he actually is. Ok with the disclaimer over....here are some accolades.

Huge part of 3 Stanley Cups.

Very clutch playoff performer. 110 points in 128 games. Not too far off from Kane's 123 in 127. But while providing a defensive presence, totally absent from Kane's game.

4x's All star game

Conn Smythe Winner and also a Selke on his resume.

I think Toews is the perfect 3rd line center for this league.

KIRK's PICK for THE SKATING JABRONI's

The Skating Jabroni's are proud to select, G Jonathan Quick

la-1513029712-mf5uafm6nn-snap-image

Quick basically picked up the Los Angeles Kings and put them on his back in the 2011-2012 season, leading them to the promised land, and their First Stanley Cup. His run was incredible. As he was named the Conn Smythe winner. He would finish the playoffs with a 1.46 GAA, and .946 SP. He was nothing short of stupendous.

But he was not done. Quick would backstop the Kings to another Stanley Cup victory in '13-'14. Proving he was not a one time fluke.

2 Jennings Trophies.

2 All star game.

One of the top goalies of our generation, the ever clutch, playoff tested and approved, Jonathan Quick!

The KINKY KIRKS select one of the best two way forwards of this era, LW Henrik Zetterberg.

Zetterberg was a master at frustrating his opponents with his stout defensive play all over the ice and his magical hands that always seemed to score backbreaking goals.

This was most evident when he won the Stanley Cup in 2008 and took home the Conn Smythe, scoring 27 points and setting a Red Wings record for the most goals in a single postseason.

My next pick is....Dany Heatley! One of the better power forwards in the game in his prime, until injuries shortened his career, I'll always remember him playing for the Thrashers, with Kovalchuk. I'm reuniting the pair here!

The Gentlemen Bastards are proud to select another underrated 80's player, D Brad McCrimmon

Sadly, Brad was the head coach of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl as was aboard the plane that crashed killing the entire team.

Again, not one of the flashy blue liners that are going to pop in 20 goals and 50+ points. Brad, instead, specialized in positioning, angles, making parking in front of his net a wholly miserable and unrewarding thing to do. Had it not been for a contract squabble and a poor 3rd season (and a cheap ass owner), McCrimmon and Ray Bourque would have formed one of the most feared defensive parings in NHL history.

Here's the Top 10 defensive point share leaders (metric devised from Bill James' win shares to show how many standings points a player contributes, or takes away) among draft eligible players:

Also, take note of McCrimmon's insane +448 for his career which trump all of those defenders, except his roommate in Boston, Bourque and Nick Lidstrom.

The Gentlemen Bastards continue their defensive run by selecting the dynamic D PK Subban

PK plays a strong two way game for a defender. Pairing him on the top line with Lowe will allow him to play the Paul Coffey role for the Bastards, while also providing a pairing that isn't afraid to lay the lumber and mix it up. Subban also brings along swagger that cannot be matched and a passion and fire that teammate cannot help but follow.

Oh, and he'll have the pleasure of QBing the top PP unit for Mario and Brett Hull

My next pick is the Penguins own, Kris Letang! The often criticized dman, for all his faults, is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) defenseman in Penguins history, and I'm thrilled to add him to my team!

The KINKY KIRKS are going to give their captain, Sidney Crosby, a huge reason to smile with this next pick. With our next selection we are happy to select Brad Marchand, the rat fink.

You all know him, most of you love to hate him, but you can’t deny you would love to have the rat fink on your team. With the most punchable face since his father, Pat Verbeek, graced NHL ice surfaces, Marchand has become one of the best LW in the game today.

Marchand is a Stanley Cup champion that will do whatever it takes to win, including playing elite defense, licking boogers, or “accidentally” performing a lobotomy on your soul.

Most importantly of all, he has undeniable chemistry with his new linemate, Crosby.

While there are a lot of good wingers still available, Squaw Valley is pleased to add an extremely tough, skilled and team first RW to Mike Modano’s line in:

RW Rick Tocchet

4x All Star
Stanley Cup Champion
440 Goals
952 Points
Almost 3,000 PIM

With Hatcher, Burns and now Tocchet, The Precursor is happy to have some very skilled muscle in their lineup.
