It's only been a few weeks and Trouba already wants out of NY?

You take the arbitration list as "wanting out"? Guess Copp and Pionk are dying to get out of Winnipeg, then. Same thing with Binnington and St Louis. Well, the latter one is no surprise, considering what negative impressions he must have of the team and the city :sarcasm:

Arbitration can only award one-year or two-year contracts, I believe.

You are right . Whoever didn't file it gets to choose I believe unless they are 1 year from ufa then it's only 1 year no matter what

Most of these guys will sign before it actually gets to arbitration, which can be any normal term. Presumably that's what the longer estimates would be

If Stephenson gets more than $800k the Caps should just walk away.
The minimum Arbitration award granting the Club the walk away right was $3.5M in 2013/14, and it has increased since then in the same rate as the League Average Salary has.

And Robert Thomas has a Cup and McJesus doesn't and he did it in his first season too, so does that mean Thomas should get $13m? I'll give it a little more seasoning before I'm ready to anoint Binny as the perennial Vezna winner.

you're just afraid

After arbitration,

It's 1 year max?
Is it sign or becomes UFA?
1 or 2, the one who didn't initiate the process gets to decide. Exception: if the player is only one year away from UFA status, only 1 year is possible.

It is sign, period. The Arbitrator awards the SPC and that's gonna be it. The team has the option to walk away only in player-elected Arb and only if it's a high award ($3.5M> in 2013/14, and this limit has increased since in the same rate as average league salary). In this case the player becomes UFA.

Judging from recent comps. he probably will.

Outside of Trouba (who I expect wont make it to arbitration) who's got the biggest contract coming from that list of players?

Heinen? Buchnevich?

Binnington is a hard one to lock down as far as a number goes.

It's funny how trouba is back in arbitration again. Talk about ungrateful and greedy.

How many cups did he help his previous team win ? 0 This is the problem with the nhl , overpaid , and awful contracts handed out.
when was the last time the owners of a sports team in new york won anything? do they give money back?

he did everything Bob & Price didn't do... and in one season

there's an argument
Kinda answered yourself there, haven't you? He played at that level for a few months of his career. It's kinda hard to assume from this point on he will continue playing at exactly that level for 8 more years.
