Trouba was NEVER going to sign long term in Winnipeg, or any Canadian market. No reason to blame Jets for Not signing him long term. He was offered 4 times, long term deals and HE turned everyone down.
Nothing to do with "such a great player, why didn't they sign him long term"...
Trouba was a great fit for his PLAY on the Jets. That's it. Not saying he is such a great player or ever was. His draft projection, pedigree, potential all gave excitement toward him being such a great player some day.
To label trouba a great player , when that player himself hasn't done anything as of yet to say that he is a great player.
How many Stanley cup rings or Norris trophies does he have ?
It wasn't like he was playing on a bad or mediocre team.
When a player holds out or pouts about his contract, you have to wonder is that player a good fit for the team ?
Every hockey player makes great money period. Some earn more than others that's life, however it's easier for a GM to hand out a contract or salary if said player has earned it, rather than a player just demanding a certain number because he wants it.
Look at Nylander he held out and than got his payday and he was MIA in terms of producing to the level expected for that contract.
Trouba might be a good defenseman , but I wouldn't say great he is far from that use of term .
He might even be more so just a lockeroom cancer
