Lol wats all this offersheet talk on leafs players but none other team players lol...

1) Lots of OS talk regarding other teams, media and here.

2) Leafs are the hockey Mecca of the NHL, biggest fan base, most hockey money generated, biggest hockey media group...........wouldn’t it be a bit naive and talking out both sides of a persons mouth if the media didn’t give the most attention to Leafs players good or bad?

3) Marner camp (rumoured) has taken the most aggressive stance regarding using OS threat as leverage.

I’m shocked by your surprise or anyone else’s by more attention being given to Leaf players (especially Marner) then other players. Media reports on whatever creates the biggest buzz and most clicks.

You may be right although I never heard of 100% of anyone’s cap remaining on a buy out

Edit : you are 100% right . Never seen that before . Thanks for the heads up on that
Patrick Marleau Buyout Details

This is a 35-plus contract and therefore the buyout has no effect on the players cap hit. Please see the Buyout FAQ for more information

I posted it before and will post it again

To Edmonton Kadri + Kapanen + Brown

To TML 8th OA + Benning

Benning and Brown are new to my offer that I put in as the Leafs could have 2 defence men leaving
I don't see the Leafs trading 3 forwards

Every year we get all these offsheets talk from other teams . Montreal was going to offer sheet Draisaitl and they did shit . If we are lucky we may get one offersheet this summer .

Really it fits here , nothing to see here move along .

I agree the OS threat is largely nothing.....albeit this year might be the greatest chance in a while. Some teams are more vulnerable then others.....at least at this point but that can totally change by July 1st.

Haydn Fleury for Johnsson

Although I wouldn't mind the Canes just offer sheeting him at $3-4 million.

I'd be fine with Buffalo giving him a 1yr/$4M offer sheet. Him or Kapanen, really. I'd also call Dubas and offer him 30th/31st OV for one of them to ensure that Buffalo gets one.

Who will at least be a year away.

Again, they are not trading a full line of forwards, for a pick and a depth Dman.

Even though the value isn't terrible, they don't have enough depth to make that sort of trade without being forced to overpay a winger

That's useless for the Leafs. they'd match it and trade someone else off the roster.

4 million has to be on a 3+ year deal for the Leafs to think about not matching.

How in the Hell is this even remotely appealing for Toronto?

Lets say it's one year at $4M, doesn't this complicate the cap even more in the next season? It's tight even with Marleau and Gardiner not back.

yes, it does make a Kadri trade more likelier but it's not the end of the world.

But I don't see how the team giving out of the OS doesn't want Johnsson for multiple years.

2 years is the least likely option since the Leafs have the space for the 2nd year + you're taking him to 1 year from UFA status with him holding arbitration rights again.

Why are the Leafs against adding grade A prospects who will help their cap troubles on ELC in the coming years? This trade addresses a few things. It unloads salary on the forward side of things and opens up room to improve the D while they get to draft a very good prospect with the 8th pick. Scoring is not the problem. Building a better D and creating cap space to do it is. The cup window is 5-7 years, not 2 years. The 8th OA pick does fit the Leafs needs in terms of inserting a top talent on a cheap contract for at least 3 years.

I do agree however, that the Leafs should get more. Kadri is almost worth the 8th OA pick alone by himself. Lucic for one year (when he was trending well) returned the 13th OA and Jones who was flipped for another late 1st. Kadri plays center and has a very good contract. Coming off a disappointing year but that has more to do with playing 3rd line minutes.
