Andrei Altybarmakyan played for SKA's junior (MHL) team today. He scored a powerplay goal.

I think this was to get him some early season ice time, and he should be back with the VHL team for games tomorrow and Tuesday.

This organization is exceptionally good at identifying talent. Stan is much worse at cap management than he is at drafting, which is something that I hope he learns from. His drafting is so good, in fact, that I'd give him a chance to rebuild this and learn from his mistakes next time when managing the cap. Seems to be a chip off the ol'block when it comes to having an eye for talent.

To follow up on the Hawks being awesome at finding talent, McNeill is the only 1st round pick so far that you can say was a complete flop since Bowman took over, and finding Saad in the 2nd round completely makes up for it.
Players with at least 1 full season of NHL experience that were drafted by the Hawks, even if playing elsewhere:
2010:
Kevin Hayes (1-25)
Stephen Johns (2-60)
Joakim Nordstrom(3-90)

2011:
Philip Danault(1-26)
Brandon Saad (2-43)
Andrew Shaw(5-139)

2012:
Teuvo Teravainen (1-18)
Vinnie Hinostroza (6-169)

2013:
Ryan Hartman (1-30)
John Hayden(3-74)

2014:
Nick Schmaltz(1-20)

2015:
None

2016:
Alex DeBrincat (2-39)

Decent-to good prospects with limited to no NHL experience:
D. Sikura
Boqvist
Beaudin
Wise
Jokiharju
Mitchell
Kayumov

Fringe prospects with potential to become decent:
Altybarmakayan
Soderlund
Nordgren
Nalimov
Gravel
Bondra

AHL/NHL tweeners
Dahlstrom
Tuulola

My question to you is, who has done better than the Hawks with a bottom 10 1st round draft position?

certain posters will tell you otherwise, but I agree the Hawks have drafted well at lower positions. developing defensemen has been a problem, but when you do not draft any in the first round until this year, kind of an uphill fight. we have plenty of good young dmen now, but many from 2010 through 2016 didn't turn into much from 2nd round on...though Johns is a top 4 dman.

Tim Söderlund scored both Frolunda goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Rogle.

His first points of the SHL season (4th game).

The two goals by Soderlund that Hawkster mentioned earlier, plus a nice play that he didn't score on.
