I’d like to see what would happen if the NHL did a season ticket drive with a prospective new owner, like how they did it in Las Vegas or Seattle.

Just a trial balloon of “How many deposits for season tickets would fans commit to with new ownership?” Would probably sell out.

I would think they would be around 9k seasons with new ownership. Those who have bought before would come back. But I don’t think there is anyone out there who will come with the team rebuilding. It would be better, but still, it would be pretty weak

Are the players getting what they deserve?

I don’t think Brown is complaining with his 20 minutes... or Ennis with his 17... or Hainsey etc

The vets are getting all the ice time they can dream of... just the fans don’t want to watch scrubs

Oh for sure. I bet this is what Tkachuk dreamed of as a kid

I bet that he didn't dream of a shady owner who trades the captain of the team and one of the best players on the planet, that trades his best friend on the team and mentor Mark Stone, trades our #1C, and that throws him to the wolves without support at 20 years old on last place team that the GM and owner assembled.

Yea I bet he's pretty pissed about that, and I bet he wouldn't watch a single game of this team nor pay money to see them if he was a simple fan with no relation to this team and I'm also sure he understands why fans don't wanna watch this team because nobody wants to watch one of the worst teams assembled in the last decade.

You're delusional if you think Tkachuk cares about attendance when he understands full well what's happening here. Being mad at the fans instead of the owner is absolutely idiotic. Put a steak on my plate and I'll be at your house every weekend, give me sardines and I'll never come over.

The island of misfit toys team as it currently stands? I mean..maybe?

I can't necessarily blame people for not wanting to shell out their hard earned dollars to drive out to a corn field to watch household names like Mikkel Boedker, Scott Sabourin and Tyler Ennis get their butts kicked up and down the ice more often than not. I certainly feel bad for the handful of young and talented players who deserve better than this, but it's not enough to offset the myriad of reasons to stay away.

It’s just sad all around. Not a good look for anyone, NHL included.

Fans have played their hand. Melnyk by refusing to sell is destroying a brand. The NHL at some juncture sooner rather than later would be wise to do something about this.

I don't blame the sentiment, but this idea that Big Brother NHL is going to swoop in and save the day just isn't reality.

Where did I say I was mad? It is an unfortunate situation all around. Unfortunatethat we have a lousy owner. Unfortunate that we have fans who don’t care to go. Unfortunate for the players who are giving their all to be unloved. Unfortunate all around.

You can go ahead and waive the MelnykOut flag, but I don’t feel any joy over this as others do here who think they are going to prove a point. He is just going to head to the top of the list for equalization payments until the BOG have other ideas to stop the new, excessive payments.

So the answer is no. Cool. People can go on and justify why, but I don’t really care

It's unfortunate that you feel like people should spend their money when the owner of the team clearly doesn't put any investment on the team.

Maybe. But people are here as passionate as ever, and my son’s friends went for 15 bucks so, whatever man. Cheaper than a movie to watch NHL hockey and the Cup champions.

But who is left to sign that people care about? It is a rebuild and only Tkachuk is left to sign.

People are passionate because they want a legit NHL franchise to be run like it did 20 years ago. It's also not just about who's left to sign, it's about where this team is headed and what happened in the last few years. The owner threatening to move the team, getting a lawyer for Randy Lee and not firing him/suspending right away, messing up the lebreton deal, gambling at the casino millions of dollars when he's crying that he doesn't have enough money and needs fans into the stands. That hyprocrisy plain and simple.

Normal people do not respect that. That's straight up disrespecting your clients and laughing right in their faces. No shit people don't wanna go see the games. How dare you say fans don't care to go, what are you talking about it's absolutely ridiculous and ignorant that you would think that.

Good points. I mean , it was three years ago where there was 11,069 to watch a game and things weren’t like today. So, maybe it is a good business deal for Melnyk as he is a saving a tonne and getting massive equalization payments.

I can say fans don’t care to go because...it is absolutely true. How dare you say otherwise
