It's a good contract. I wish he was tied up longer, but it ending the same time as the Toews, Kane, and Keith contracts end really helps (love to see each of those guys re-signed, but not at their current cap hit). Also, Cat will still be a RFA, so it's not like we have to be concerned with him walking for nothing.
This also might make it easier to re-sign Strome and help to ice a competitive roster over the next few seasons.
And honestly, I'm glad that I can cheer on Cat burning down villages this season without worrying about how much it'll hurt next year's team.
