Safe to say, we agree to disagree….I’ll leave it at that.
I have a hard time believing anything would drown because either of those two players aren’t involved.
Well...the Oilers have given up 3 PK goals in the last 2 games and a large part of that is because Knoblauch is messing around with something that works.
Struddy pointed out that Bouchard was inserted into the PK...why? Bouchards biggest weakness involves his poor decisions without the puck. He also doesnt do well when he deosnt have a rock like Ekholm beside him.
If you have something that works what is the point in messing around with it?
The failure of the PK lately is on Knoblauch more than anything.
If it works leave it alone.

All that being said...I would have no problem with the Oilers improving their bottom 6 by adding a player who can PK and contribute offensively. Preferably a player with a little size/bite to his game as well but there arent a lot of those available.

I suspect they are trying a few different roles and combinations in game 40 something to see if there are players who can possibly handle more/different roles before we get to the trade deadline. Based on the last few games they’ve got some pretty clear answers, which maybe isn’t a bad thing if we identify and acquire the right players.

Thats a fair point and it does make sense.
They sure did get some pretty clear answers.

Edit: Perhaps that was Knoblauchs thinking with the D pairings as well.

This team hasn’t looked like a playoff team for a little while now but we have had luck. Now we get to see if Knoblauch can actually coach. New coach bump is over.

Foegele is sad because he's back in bottomsix and back to doing nothing. His whole time here he shows these streaks where you figure he can be a player, then he goes back to this. Didn't think Holloway had much going tonight but this isn't AHL and there wasn't a ton of open ice. These games back are a good test for the Oil and showing them what level of game they need to get back to.
Holloway and Foegele ain’t it. Get a 3c and top 6 winger to replace both for playoffs.

That game suuuuuuucked. LA was all over us and we still just stand there with the puck way too long waiting to get our pockets picked. If it's not working, it's not working. Such a stubborn team. Also learn to finish your gdam checks if you want a cup boys.

McDavid always has fire. It's a lot of the rest of them

Mikey could take his glove off and slap nuge in the face a few times and nuge probably wouldn't even get that angry.

You need every guy to want to battle till the end. Race hard to board battles, etc

I can't stand them, but you have to play the way Vancouver third line plays. Like guys who have been threatened every game they will be scratched
Nuge has been “meh” this year for sure. It’s tough to watch.

That line was good for awhile but he’s been dragging it down. Time to put McLeod or Holloway up there for a few games to give nuge a kick in the ass.

The real kicker is that nuges dumb penalty is the reason we got down by one and we had nothing after that…

Over passing and over handling the puck coupled with a very determined Kings team defence and solid goaltending = no goals.
You could tell the kings just wanted this more. It happens often when a coach gets fired. They dig down to get a win. Heck we’ve seen it many times

We are still the better team. This was a tough out

Time to get a practice in a reboot

If you had never watched a hockey game before tonight and were told the best player in the world played for the Oilers.... you would think it was McLeod

All the Kings needed to do was to be in a lane to receive the puck all night. The amount of backhand giveaways was epic. I also can't even remember the last time the oilers had a deflection, and tonight was just skate in circles, force backdoor, giveaway, and repeat.

Only took this coach 30 games before he started making stupid decision after stupid decision.
Great. Here we go again with just attacking coaches in a loss and not the whole team

Glad that we have a bottom 6 that won't hit, fight or score. It's amazing that PK specialists Janmark and Brown have 1,000,000 chances yet a guy like Gagner that could really boost our 2nd PP unit is a constant HS. Braindead move changing the D pairings the last game and continuing it for much of tonight.
Janmark and Brown suck but what the hell would’ve Gagner done?

27-8 is a bit more than a new coach bump, the man has shown he can coach. They aren’t as good as their 16-0 run and they aren’t as bad as they played tonight. Lots more highs and lows to come this year, the same as for every team.

We just played a team that wanted the win more than we did. It's that simple, wouldn't bother reading the overreactions in the other pages.

I’ve not watched a game for several weeks now but listening to Stauffer and Rishaugs pod and a few others it seems the team is in need of a bit of a reset as the offence has dried up a bit. Got a tough road trip coming up to Dallas & StL where we always struggle.

Every year you gotta have some of these. With LA getting a new coach you could see this one coming miles away. Just gotta deal with it and move on.

That said, that third line with its sub-100 combined hockey IQ is truly awful. Three fast skaters with decent puck skills but zero chemistry and nothing going on.

For me it is D. Another top 6 forward? Leon, McDavid, Nuge, Hyman, Kane? It is not like we have a lot of money laying around under the sofa where we can afford another guy making top 6 money. IF our top 5 can not get it down with their collective pay cheques? That needs to be addressed and get guys who can get it done.

I blame Ceci. He was even while most players were minus
Ha ha.

I focussed on a lot of his shifts last night, just wanting to be better informed as he gets shit on a lot here. The guy played within his skill set and wasn’t a liability from what I observed. Like most non superstar NHL,players, he has to be deplyed in ways that his skill set can manage and he’s ok. He’s not a 1-2 guy so he shouldn’t be getting exposed against teams top lines. I thought he was one brighter light in last nights game.

Kind of expected it. Like I said the break happened at the worst time for the Oilers. They were on a huge tear and after two weeks off essentially that mojo is gone. This has been really bad since ASG. Without the Kane hatrick were staring at 3 losses in a row. Good thing we edged out Anaheim. It was never going to be easy after ASG. Oilers used a lot of energy getting back to where they are in the standings.
And their schedule becomes really difficult going forward.
