Since Ghost entered the league:

5th in PP points
36th in ES points

I guess other player must be having bad seasons too the last 4 years.
You’re missing the crux of it: Some of us think shuffling deck chairs isn’t enough, & you’re going to have to be willing to trade something with significant trade value.

The team is winning now so all players are the best except for the most hated, when they lose a few it will be time to trade all the junk for top players. Rinse. Repeat. Recycle.

No matter what happens at the deadline, I think we can all agree that HF Flyers got the best acquisition.

Myers and Morin I consider unknown at this point until I see them play in the NHL. Normally 100 games is fair before judgement.

No, could you post them again or tell me where to look? These aren't analytical adjusted stats that show shot attempts is it?

I agree with Myers and Morin. It's why trading Ghost is even more silly because we don't even know what we have in those 2. I said earlier that even having a type of rotation could work where 3 different guys are rotated where 2 play, 1 sits. Then it changes the next game. This is all dependent on how they play of course.

I expect all kids to make mistakes. These 2 will be no different. But I also think the rest of this year is the time to get their feet wet to have more info for planning on next year. Morin could be awful and it could be obvious that he needs to be only pegged as a #7 next year. Who knows until he plays.

Provy Myers
Sanheim Gudas
Morin Ghost
Hagg

...that is what I would like to see next year. And in games where Ghost is flying, you bump him up for more ice time if you want. I just think it gives us the best balance and then we don't play 2 rookies together in Morin/Myers.

As for the Hagg info, was it you @FLYguy3911 who posted it?

Trading something significant that returns you worse players on the roster, is not a plan I want to subscribe to.

Trading Ghost for 2 prospects who won't help us next year only to be in a dogfight to play on our 3rd line/bottom pair in a few years makes no sense to me. I actually prefer to be better next year.

Naw. People knew Hakstol was awful even when we were winning games.

It's not a bad thing to want to replace our worst players, and keep our best.

That was just one hypothetical someone raised that I thought was getting way too much grief. You seemed to be in the “Ghost should be untouchable” camp. If you’re hesitant about trading him for 2 top prospects instead, but would consider other offers for him then we aren’t far off. Seems more like you are adamant against trading Ghost in general though.

Is every thread about Ghost? Lol

It is exhausting defending him but worth it. We need him going forward.

I'll stop short of calling him untouchable but he is close considering age, skill set and contract.

I'm pretty much at where Tripod is. Unless EK signed is coming I'm not looking to trade him. Even at 12 mily EK would be awesome.

at this point, i wouldn't trade provorov, sanheim, ghost, myers or morin.

Now in 2 seasons maybe it would make sense to trade Ghost but not at this moment in time.
first, everyone in this group needs to establish themselves, not to mention some of the forwards including guys like Frost and Farabe.

in 2-3 seasons Fletcher will have a better read on the long-term needs.

The NHL blackout in my area had me watching the game on the Anaheim feed. Their color guy, Brian Hayward, is a smart, former NHL goalie. His comments about Hart made my day. He praised Carter's physical abilities (like his strong push off). But, according to Hayward, the key to being a great goalie is judgement and decision-making. He thought that Hart has those qualities. Nice!

Trade Gostisbehere, now? Sure you'd get a decent return, but nothing like what you could get after he plays awhile for a coach who knows how to organize a power play and run a system that utilizes his talent and minimizes his weaknesses. Until then ...

That doesn't happen here, aside from a small handful of posters that you're now in with.

so Glad that I'm not "in" with anyone.

I an independent, kind of like Bruiser Brody used to jump from Territory to Territory back in the 80's.

I hate all of you equally.

Remember when people were starting to write off Giroux a couple years ago? Even the media was wondering if his best days were behind him.
Here we are today.
Yup.

Before last season people wanted to dump both Giroux and Voracek with their "immovable contracts" because they had a bad year, people wanted to trade Ghost because he had a fluke rookie year that he'd never be able to match, and people also wanted get rid of Couturier because he was a no-offense bust.

And the lesson clearly wasn't learned, now that we're seeing this Ghost nonsense again. If these kinds of panicky, short-sighted trades were actually made, we'd have nobody left.

Came in here for the post game thread and all I see is ghost trade talk. You guys are crazy.

I can see Pitt being utter scumbags and taking a run at Hart. I’ll literally hunt down that fat slob kessel.

I don't see any urgency in trading Ghost.

We've seen him have a bad season, and then he bounced back. He has proven he has the ability to be a premier power play qb, and an elite offensive threat. Even when he is not producing, he is regarded as a threat when he is on the ice.

On top of that, we have Sanheim who is shaping up to look like a good power play player who can still learn a lot from someone like ghost.

Why trade him now? His trade value isn't picque now, and people will still pay for him in future years if he doesn't pan out due to his potential and his amazing contract.

On that note, I would not mind seeing Voracek getting traded. Love the guy and he's been a trouper, but we have too many passers in our kitchen. If we can get some solid pieces in return for him and find a way to land someone like Stone, or put a nice offersheet in for Laine, I'd be on cloud 9. Although these are just dreams.

At the end of the day I'm happy with the way the season has turned around since hakatol is gone. Games are more enjoyable to watch, we are seeing some of the Young guns shine, and there's a bit of a playoff push coming along which is always fun to watch, regardless of whether one believes it is better to tank for Hughes or make the playoffs to get the kids some exp.

I'm loving it, just dish McDick and this season is a huge success in my books..

Flyers out played once again, this time at home by a BAD team.
Corsi 48.54, SCA/CF 19/24, HDCF/CA 7/13
Nor was this due to an early 4-0 lead, first period:
Corsi 48.72, SCA/CF 8/10, HDCF/CA 3/5

The Hagg/Gudas pair struggled again, or why Gordon is probably dumber than Hakstol.
Please find Patrick some better wingers, he was flying out there but dragged down by the weights he has to drag around.

Ghost had a horrible sequence, fumbles the puck, beat down the ice, doesn't see that Giroux had back checked and was in position to stop a breakwaay so he flings his stick out and gets a tripping penalty that negates a PP and leads to a Duck PP and goal.

Lindblom is playing great, which is no surprise, he looked good as a rookie playing the same minutes at 2LW, then was MIA in the playoffs, up and down the first half, Gordon played him less than Hakstol in December, then Lindblom got over his funk and is playing better than as a rookie.
Wow, he's the first rookie to struggle with consistency his first couple seasons? Never happens elsewhere in the NHL.

This team has one great line and needs to rebuild the other two top lines, and the defensive pairings are still meh.
Fletcher isn't fooled by Hart carrying this team on his back, your goalie is not going to post .930+ S% every game.
