Brink was a 2nd round pick? With a 2nd round pick you're always lucky if they even make it to the NHL.York vs Caufield isn't where it's at. At the time, that was a good pick. It may still be a good pick.
Caufield vs Brink, now. There it is.
This thread is an absolute shit show
But at least we display only the best groomed purebred shit. None of this mongrel mutt shit.

I very much appreciate York’s high efficiency plays. I’ve seen York so many times since the NTDP. I don’t think I’d change a single word in my evaluation over the years. That’s mostly a positive, but it’s a slight negative too. I like him a lot, so don’t think otherwise.
I don’t project any prospect as a top pair defender, unless you have legitimate standout traits. Otherwise, there’s too much gap filling. Maybe York can be that -- maybe his analytics just shine -- but I think it’s safer to say he might be a #3 caliber guy with wiggle room. That’s hella valuable. I don’t like the Timonen comparison — he was a legitimate #1 caliber guy. And I’m not at all specifically criticizing you, because it’s repeated everywhere, but it just seems a too easy Flyers comparison.
I think York’s adaptable, I think he’s well rounded, I think his play driving and puck moving will be sound. I don’t think he’s partner reliant. I do think he lacks a dynamic element or killer offensive instinct, and it’s more mental than physical. Honestly, it can go the other way too much with downplaying his skill — his hands are terrific and passes always crisp. But he’s content to not challenge guys 1v1 and will often make the safe play and pass it off. It’s not a bad trait. He excels at playing within the flow of others. It’s just not an especially high ceiling one either. I still expect plenty of offense given the usage.
I think he’s a very good PP QB, but I don’t think he’s a slam dunk elite PP guy. Again, back to the efficiency, also his shot won’t be too respected. I think he’s got a good stick and gap control and is smart, but I think the idea of him being a smaller defensive wunderkind is a bit overblown. He handles himself well, but he’s not Jared Spur-
We’re doing the thing again, deady! Spurgeon is one of the most valuable all-around defenders in the league.
I pre-ordered Mario Golf for Switch. It's gonna be a fun upcoming weekend.
Where did I say York was going to bad? Caufield was a great pick and has shown absolutely everything fans and analysts predicted before the draft. Lots of people on this board wanted him and they would've been right. Now if York becomes a Charlie Mcavoy Dman then it will be a good argument and I think will all be happy..... Right now though Caufield has been exceptional and looks like a hugh end talent in the most difficult environment you can imagine for someone who would be too small to handle NHL Dman.....he deserves credit and if you can't see that then go drink some more O&B Kool aidSo let me get this straight. Justin Jefferson broke a rookie record for receiving yards, and Jalen Reagor had a bad, injury plagued season. Somehow that is comparable to CC having 6 goals/12 points in his first 22 NHL games, and apparently deciding that Cam York will be bad based on three games. Hello apple, my name is orange.
I hope you have a wonderful time!I pre-ordered Mario Golf for Switch. It's gonna be a fun upcoming weekend.
This is a bang on assessment.... the risk with York is in his own end can he play D with the lack of size he has. I thought yes but he still has to prove it and its no guarantee at allI very much appreciate York’s high efficiency plays. I’ve seen York so many times since the NTDP. Boldy, Krebs and Caufield were the picks most wanted. York was a bit of a surprise but has done nothing poorly since being drafted. Kid strengths remain the same and weaknesses are still the same. Question was could Caufield hold up vs NHL size and speed and the same with York could he hold up vs NHL size and speed. Caufield has proven he can will see about Cam (no one can definitively say yet he had a small sample size in AHL and NHL (do love the kids intangibles seems like a leader and a work horse so thats definitely a plus but shot and play in his own end are the unknows at this point)The other you keep alluding to is Boldy, right? That was my guy on draft day.

magua83I did my best to inject earnest discussion. Oh well.
So, which poster do you think I most identify with in terms of geographic location? I do love my Canes. Surrounded by Maguas?
