Anyone willing to predict how many 16's we will see in the league this year. There have been a few signings so far, mainly first round guys. Last year set a record with 38....I don't see it getting anywhere close to that...but we could see 25 or so.

32 - is my call is afyer looking at some of the camp.rosters

I'll make my predictions:

1-Ethan Gauthier (SHB)
2-Tyler Peddle (DRU)
3-Vincent Collard (BAC)
4-Luke Coughlin (RIM)
5-Dylan MacKinnon(HFX)
6-Mathieu Cataford (HFX)
8-Emile Perron(CAPE)
11-Matteo Rotondi(DRU)
13-Justin Boisselle(BLB)
14-Justin Gendron (VIC)
15-Kyle Hagen(RIM)
18-Nathan Baril (BAC)
21-Etienne Morin (MON)
22-Cam Squires (CAPE)
23-Alex Mercier (MON)
31-Mathieu Wener (QC)
32-Matis Ouellet (CHA)
35-Emmanuel Vermette(CHI)
45-Sam-Luca Thifault (SHE)

So I guess I'm predicting 19 players to make it. Others I could see making it with a good camp:

Bourque, St-Denis, Beaudry, Goyette, Carriere, Hebert, Allen.

According to a few people who saw the camp in Sherbrooke since the opening, Thifault is better than most forwards picked in 2nd round and even better than some picked in 1st.

Can't wait to see him in action since I didn't know this kid at all before the draft.

Already hearing some whispers nearby Drummondville.

Peddle might be the best of the last draft according to them. And I can say that it breaks their heart to say that.

Time will tell.

25 is the number that can keep...15-8-2...but most usually only hang on to 14 F;s. Hearing Sept 15th for the final 25.

After taking a look at the rosters and who’s actually played an exhibition game it doesn’t seem like many top players have chosen NCAA from this draft. There are names that I haven’t seen yet but not top round guys.

players from Atlantic Canada that I haven’t seen in a game yet:
Green AB
Bellamy AB
Strapp AB
Shortall AB
Johnson BC
MacDonald BB
Plandowski BB
Mossey CHA
Flanagan CHA
Allen CHI
Thompson MON
Stewart QUE
Nadeau RIM
Grant RN
Burbidge STJ
Graves STJ

A lot of these kids would not make the Q but they seem to be missing none the less.

From Quebec I noticed:
Nault BB
Madjell BB
Damphousse CHA
Durocher DRU
Heroux HFX commitment to Vermont
Gauthier SHE assume injury?
Brisebois SHE

Anyone know if these kids are just keeping eligibility or is there more to it?

10th rounder Sam Bowness has played a gritty physical game with the Islanders and looks like he'll stick.

Last year a record with 38 and many of the 04’s who came up short are taking spots this year. Much stronger group than the 05’s.
Apples and oranges with this comparison, last year there was no rookie camp, limited invitations and in some cases players were kept around simply because you could not get them back once re-assigned. Then look at the amount of 04's that had a real impact last season playing against the same few teams every game....several would have been re-assigned in a normal season. A full season of Midget and the 05's would be right there with the 04's, both in #'s and in skill. The league will be hammered with 05 roster players next season....with several additions prior to then.

Stats tell the tale. Apples and oranges indeed but you sound like sour grapes.

Half of the 04s last year were kept because there was no Midget and teams wanted their prospects to keep developping. That's all there is to it.

05s have not played Midget yet, it's not surprising that more of them would be sent down until at least Christmas. I actually think the 05s were extremely deep, but the top end talent was a bit lacking outside Gauthier.
