But Petruzelli and Berkovitz are also both going back for a 5th year and their rights expired anyway...
CBA specifically mentions "gradutation" so maybe Petruzelli and Berkovitz are taking extra years but are technically officially graduated, but Ess has not reached graduation requirements, himself? Idk..!
(Frankly, Berkovitz' rights confused me anyway, because the CBA specifies players who go to college before either 1 year or 2 years can have their rights held - Berkovitz went to college after 2 years, but ANA still held his rights through college. I would've guessed they would've expired after two years of (minor)junior before going to college).

"The NCAA’s Division I Council voted to give eligibility relief to winter-sport athletes regardless of how many games they play during the 2020-21 academic year. Athletes now have the opportunity to play five seasons within a six-year span rather than the typical four seasons in five years."

A very late 7th rounder from last year's draft (drafted 208th by Carolina!) gets an ELC from said Hurricanes. That must be pretty exciting for him.

I was/am curious to see if there's more undrafted CHL guys who earn ELCs from training camp than usual since a lot of them didn't get to play last season. Avon could have re-entered the 2022 Draft but there's currently a window to sign undrafted North American with remaining draft eligibility that'll close up once their junior seasons start. Philadelphia has done well with a couple of these in recent years (Phil Myers / Yegor Zamula).
