TLR has been better than expected. He was shit the 1st 2 months but improved since.

Still, c'mon. The team is good because of the talent on it, which includes the unexpected depth it has. Renteria needed to go but he's probably got them in the same spot.

This won't be good for his Hall of Fame candidacy.

He was at 49% on his 4th ballot, so I think it was only a matter of time before he reached the 75% needed to get in.

These accusations will put a damper on that if it is shown to be true.

A fan at Coors was calling Brinson the N-word and unfortunately there wasn’t that Padres fan to knock him out.

Rockies 'disgusted' after fan appears to yell racial slurs at Marlins OF Lewis Brinson

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the Rockies' mascot, the purple dinosaur known as "Dinger," happened to be making his way through the stands behind home plate at the time of the alleged slur. At the same time, a fan was waving toward the mascot in a way that somewhat corresponds to the yells captured on broadcast. Other Rockies fans could also be heard saying "Dinger" earlier as well.

It really has to be seen and heard to be understood. You be the judge.

Basically, we're either talking about an infuriating use of slurs in a public setting or an incredibly sinister version of the "Yanny or Laurel" debate. The latter at least explains how the fan in question was able to leave the park unaccosted and unidentified by security and his fellow spectators, but it also provides quite a bit of benefit of the doubt.

He 1 million percent was saying "Dinger"
There is muffled audio, he is waving towards the mascot, and if he really did say the n word, people would have reacted around him

Yeah, it's pretty pathetic that the Rockies statement just assumed twitter was correct. All you have to do is take one close look at the video to know he was clearly trying to get the attention of the mascot.
That’s the world we live in now.. no investigating, no questions asked… just dive head first into fake outrage. Clown world.

Look, maybe the Rockies could have done more research but let’s no pretend that every other team and corporation would have done the exact same thing. And there is nothing wrong with coming out against someone saying the n-word.

It’s no harm no foul anyway. The man was never publicly identified and he was exonerated quickly once more videos came out.

I had no idea that was that mascot’s name and it was the guy wearing a hat yelling it. Yeah, it was weird that no one was reacting when he was yelling. Hopefully this guy will get cleared and doesn’t get wrongfully doxxed.

In this case? The Rockies could have easily taken 2 minutes to review the tape and come out with something like “We have reviewed the incident and would like to clarify that a fan was signaling towards and yelling the name of our mascot “Dinger”. We apologize to those who interpreted it as hearing a racial slur”.

But no, let’s listen to Twitter which is full of unemployed basement virgins with Cheeto dust on their fingers as the voice of reason.

can't blame anyone for reacting the way they did, especially when it clearly sounds like the n-word on the broadcast and even the PBP guys apologized for the language

No one has a problem with the initial gut reaction, but the fact that people, especially those in power basically just read the headline and assume that's all there is. The Rockies statement could've just condemned racism and said they'd investigate, instead they already deemed the fan guilty. Since people online quickly pointed out what really happened, everything should be fine in this case.

Except on the broadcast you couldn’t tell definitively it was “dinger.” It’s not false outrage to put out a statement.

Even without “Twitter”, the Rockies likely still put out a statement.

That’s why people should be absolutely certain before throwing around accusations that can ruin someone publicly and personally.

It’s honestly comical how much all the major national media outlets continue to discuss/debate the Mets on a daily basis as if they’re actually a legit contender…and how much they constantly refer to Lindor and his eventual return as if he’s actually a good player…

I guess it makes sense to why that guy didn’t get beat up, fans have gotten physical for a lot less.

Maybe this can be used as an excuse to get rid of the worst mascot in sports.

Just saw the video now, and the fan is clearly saying "Dinger" and waving to him. Talk about wanting to make something out of nothing.

Plus, why would the fan even utter the racial slur during an at bat in which the player just casually took a ball and stepped out of the plate? Not like there was any interaction whatsoever.
