Is Massimo Rizzo our only prospect on any of the Frozen Four teams (Denver, Michigan, Minnesota, Minnesota State)? Since it's local here in Boston I'll be going next week and need to know who to look out for, haven't followed college hockey very closely lately.

Also, any other notable players I should watch? I know a few of the high (non-Canes) draft picks on Michigan of course (Power, Hughes, etc.) but otherwise I don't know much about these teams.

Lafontaine for Minnesota.

Oops, maybe not.

4pts for Drury tonight. I know we're benching good players right now. But may need to try and find room for this kid, he was so solid during his call up earlier this season.

Given recent results, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he gets that opportunity sooner rather than later. We specifically need a bottom-6 player to inject some urgency.

I would much rather see what he's got than see another game like Lorentz had last night. A guy his size shouldn't be floating out there when getting 4th line mins. If he's not throwing his weight around, there isn't much of a reason to play him anymore.

They’re in a bit of a pickle calling up anyone from the Wolves without demoting a current roster player. They only have $460k in cap space. They can only call up Drury if they place someone on IR or if they waive a roster player down to the AHL.

At the same time, if he keeps this up for the next month, I wonder if there's a chance the team would consider using him as one of the Black Aces for the playoffs
Maybe. But I would think it would only occur once the Wolves have exited their playoffs, which probably will be a deep run given how well they've played all year. He should be playing all the time instead of just practicing.

Rizzo just had a sweet pass on a 3 on 3 that left a guy with a great chance on an open net and he missed it. He’s looked great in these 2 frozen four games, my big concern is he doesn’t look very strong on the puck and he’s small, that doesn’t bode well for when he’s playing NHLers. Lot of skill though

FWIW I think we still have 3 more years to sign Rizzo since this was his first season with Denver. He's looking like a home run pick already. Might wait 1 more year to sign him just from a contract management standpoint if he feels he has anything left to do at the NCAA level.

Do they no longer do the Justin Schultz thing? In that case, I believe you could withdraw from college at the end of what would have been your senior year had you been in college from D + 1 and declare yourself a UFA.

not sure on that. And personally I'd be trying to sign him for next season, just mentioning it so nobody panics if we don't sign him this season or even this off-season.
