Really looking like they need to get a top 3 pick this year. Either the future star/captain Lafreniere or a first line center between Byfield and Stutzle. Raymond/Drysdale wouldnt be bad at all obviously but wing and right hand D are where the wings are strongest right now going forward.

Any of those top 5 is going to help the wings rebuild quite a bit but having one more center or a studlike Lafreniere makes it look so much better going forward

I’m not taking Stutzle over Raymond because he *might* be able to play center, but that’s me. I think Raymond has the potential to be a huge possession device from the wing like Marner or Kane.

I dont think the talent is all that far apart but having a stud down the middle is what Detroits lacking. Yeah if its a Strome vs Marner situation i'll take Marner obviously but I dont think the talent gap is quite the same.

Yeah, it's hard to say. I haven't seen enough of Stutzle to feel comfortable projecting him, honestly. But I have just always found Raymond to be special... has that it factor for me personally.

Raymond is also probably the perfect winger for Rasmussen in my opinion.

I think he would fit great with Mantha, Zadina, and Rasmussen. The kid just makes those around him better, he has even done it with older players on Team Sweden. Their centers have not been the best in international tournaments but whoever they throw out there, he makes them look great.

I would say the thing I like most about Stutzle is he is a relentless attacker that seems to always be upping the pace of the game. He is really entertaining which is good to have for 80+ games.

He could be a gem, I just am not sure we should bank on him being a center as of right now.

No, no no no.

If we get 1OA, we are taking Lafreniere unless some team goes batcrap and offers us something we literally cannot turn down.

I'm saying like Ottawa trading those two picks plus Chabot level overpayment. Alexis is going to be a stud.

I agree 100% on lafreniere. I’m undecided if I’d actually do it. But the idea of getting a stutzle/Raymond + askarov/drysdale/Rossi/holtz is amazingly tempting.

would you trade Patrick Kane for Kuznetsov and bobrovski? Or Kuznetsov and krug? Really impossible to project how these guys end up but those are MAYBE similar type situations.

No, I would not.

This is not the time to try to be the smartest guy in the room. With as volatile as values on drafted prospects tend to be... I'm not going to deal a guy I'm pretty damn certain will be elite for even a chance at two guys that have a pretty good chance at being elite.

If the pair end up both hitting, sure, it's more value. But I have a really hard time seeing a future in which Lafreniere is not a stud.

pretty certain he’ll play center. What does he lack at the center position? He’s got wheels vision defensive/offensive iq hands. He’s a pretty complete player. His worst tool in his toolbox is his shot (which is far from trash) he screams center.

hockeyprospect.com put out a new ranking today.

They put Peterka in their top 15 after his impressive WJC performance.

Just for fun who would you take at 32 if those were the first 31 picks?

Kaiden Guhle, right ?

askarov and Perfetti ahead of Raymond. Woof.

Yeah, the director of that service posts on here. I asked him why he had Raymond outside of the top 5. I will share that answer when he responds. But I personally don’t agree with it, although I do like Perfetti a lot.

interesting. I like Perfetti. Not more than Raymond. certainly wouldn’t go askarov over Raymond. Goalies are hard to place I guess. But over Raymond? Yikes.

im not impressed with the small guys of perfetti-rossi-drysdale or the wingers such as holtz and raymond as players that could become dominant / elite . and after worlds im not high on byfeild . so if we dont draw 1 or 2 at the lotto im not against trading back . trading back and getting a guy like holloway around 9th if we can also get an excellent d prospect in the ahl such as a big bodied shut down zadorov type guy in the trade . holloway would make us possibly stacked at center long term , big - rugged-fast is the type center , if hes got motor n competiveness , that is worth alot to a team even if hes not a high scorer . then we could sign vet ufa wingers to fillout roster when were ready to challenge . holloway and zaderov 2.0 get us better imo than a perfetti , it would be two solid 2nd unit guys compared to a o zone / pp specialist that doesnt do anything special without the puck or in battles for territory

You're perfectly entitled to your own opinion, but that's a very small sample size to draw conclusions from.

Had hopes Jacob Perrault would make it to round 2 but I think those are long gone.

Posted the best time in the 30m skate and has posted good numbers for Sarnia this year. Kid can really skate and has one of the best shots in the draft.

Guhle is logical but I was going to say Jarvis at 32 and Pytlick with Washington's second. I admit though that I don't have a good pulse on the Russians this year.

Not a fan of Guhle? I think he's exactly the type of LD that would fit in with our group. Ideally I'd like to get Sanderson, but I feel like he will end up going in round 1. Ryan O'Rourke is another guy that interests me, but also feel like he will go somewhere in round 1.
