Check:
I turn on the Jets game with a minute or two left and the Raiders need a touchdown to win, they dont get it and the Jets get the ball back, they get a first down, I go to the kitchen throw some fries in the oven, sit back down, the game is over, I check the scores and they LOST ???? How did they blow the game??????
or is this the Twilight Zone???

They didn't get a first down, they had to punt with like thirty seconds left...but yeah it's hilarious or annoying (or actually both tbh). Check Twitter for some lols like this

Management and coaches don't throw games and rarely do players.

These guys are all fighting for jobs and millions of dollars.

This team just flat out sucks.

If Douglas went to Gase and said "hey, toss this season in the trash", why in the world would he do that? Lawrence doesn't help his career.

Gase wasn't in on whatever that was the last two plays on defense, that was all Gregg Williams, he runs the D. Obviously the players weren't in on it, Marcus Maye among others called out the coach after the game. 99.99% of the time I'm with you, players and coaches don't tank. But this finish sure smelled like one. And from a defensive coach that should know better no less. It's not like Gregg is some rookie coordinator, or a total airhead like Gase.

Maybe he was promised a job next year if he played ball, who the hell knows. There's no rational explanation for why a lame duck would play along with a tank but there's no rational explanation for those back to back calls either. The play before it even kinda stunk too, they had single coverage on THAT play but Carr overthrew an open receiver. Then to run single coverage again on a Hail Mary with a zero blitz on top of it?! You can't even come up with a galaxy brain defense for having single coverage with practice squad corners on back-to-back Hail Marys.

The Giants are really about to beat Seattle with Colt McCoy at QB and the Alfred Morris-Wayne Gallman duo at RB?!

Hope the Jets tank keeps rolling and the Jags get one more win.

Would love to see Trevor in a Jets uni as long as they don't ruin him lol but Fields is a pretty good consolation prize

Also hope Trevor loses his next CFB game. Go Irish!

I'll be completely honest, I was rooting for a win. Yes, it's easier to be a fan and hope for the tank, but I've been on record in that we have tons of problems with this team and Trevor Lawrence isn't going to step in and make magic happen.

That said, it's quite apparent that Sam is done here. He's making the same mistakes, some even more egregious than others, and hasn't developed. While I blame the organization for that way more than I blame Sam, you only have a small window of opportunity as a QB to show something. And the Jets are unfortunately the greatest shitshow on turf.

I'm so happy Marcus Maye threw Gregggggg Williams under the bus to the media yesterday saying that he thinks they should have had a better call on defense. Anyone with a remote amount of football knowledge could have seen that. This is what happens when you have two egomaniacal asshats manning your offense and defense.

LOL Gregggggg just got fired. This is hysterical.

There goes the Williams tanking theory.

He's now unemployed after being at the helm of one of the worst D's in the NFL.

Trevor will sign the contract or the Jets will get an absolute haul. I'm cool with all of the picks and maybe some legit D-men tbh. You can win with a mediocre QB.

Where was Gase to overrule that Cover-0 call? Apparently busy not paying attention.

When Gase and Gregg were hired, I made a comment saying that we likely will have the most entertaining coaching duo in the league given the high level of douchebaggery.

This is the problem when you have two ego hungry psychos manning the sideline. The rumor is that Maccagnan insisted that Gregg had to be the DC which drove away some candidates including Rhule who went to Carolina since he could actually have authority to hire his assistants. Gase comes in with Gregg, and then Gase wins the power struggle with Maccagnan after he spends $100 mil in FA and does the f***ing draft.

With Gase and Gregg, you have your offensive specialist HC and your DC. I feel they likely let each other do their thing and focus on their "specialty". It's the only explanation I can think of that would allow Gregg to get away with a call like that to more or less sabotage a win. Gregg already threw Gase under the bus for the offense's struggles halfway through the season, so this has been brewing as combustible to begin with.

It's no wonder why this culture is toxic. It is truly the greatest shitshow on turf.

That waller td in the second had nothing to do with Williams.

Jackson being absolutely smoked one on one also is not Williams fault.

All of those defensive holding calls giving the Raiders life over and over again? Not sure how that's on the DC either. Keep your hands to yourself.

They got beat by a better team who didn't play their best ball.

Jackson being put one on one in a Hail Mary situation is absolutely Williams’ fault. Yeah let’s see when the only two options the Raiders have are throw it deep or check down at the sidelines for a harmless play which eliminates one of the two Hail Mary chances with fifteen seconds left I’ll just leave a practice squad corner on an island with a first round pick that’s a burner. And I’ll blitz and I’ll put a freaking spy on Carr to boot, as if he’s going to run 55 yards up the middle with no timeouts.

He made whatever his agenda was too obvious. If anything they did him a favor by letting him go on paid leave a month early.

No one is saying anything is entirely Gregg Williams' fault throughout the game, but anyone with the slightest sense of football knowledge knows that play call at that time is wrong. No matter what Gregg's reputation may be for living and dying by the blitz, to do what he did is asking for a loss. Especially when you are asking rookie DBs, and Lamar Jackson who was an undrafted FA, to try and cover possibly the fastest guy in the league one-on-one to seal up a game. That is a significant gap in talent, and a beyond unreasonable request.

The Jets stink, the roster is bereft of talent. But even teams lacking in talent can play above their heads with strong or even competent coaching. The Jets don't have that either, in any capacity.
