You can teach skating you cant teach goal scoring. Hopefully the Avs find him someone who can help him improve his skating.Beaucage is not some great prospect. Dude just can't skate at a professional level. You can shoot the pick as hard as you want, but if you can't skate you won't make it. He's like a trailer trash Brett Hull with even worse skating.

Yes, but there's limit to everything. His skating is bad for junior level, that will just get more and more exposed as you move up.You can teach skating you cant teach goal scoring. Hopefully the Avs find him someone who can help him improve his skating.
Its up to him to put in the work. Not sure what his work ethic is like but he wants to be an NHL'er and the one thing holding him back is skating I would think he would focus on that as much as he can. The Avs should intervene and get him as much help.Yes, but there's limit to everything. His skating is bad for junior level, that will just get more and more exposed as you move up.
Love the Sampo
Sampo does kinda seem like a Kreider type, tons of physical skills, but more likely to create a play from a solo rush than make the most of his linemates
You absolutely sign him this offseason if he continues this pace, no questions asked.Sign him at the end of his season or let him play his senior season?
And as a bonus it weakens the Goofs!Yup you have got to sign the kid. Cant let him go into that senior year and then basically give him an easy walk into free agency next summer.
He may very well have an NHL future. Not sure in what capacity but that certainly looks like an NHL shot if you ask me, and the physical tools are very clearly NHL caliber. Just a matter of whether what's between the ears is NHL caliber.
What’s wrong if he starts in the AHL? That’s a step above NCAA. He’s a long shot to crack the roster next year. They haven’t signed a college senior since Brad Malone. The time is now, if ever. Not like I want him in the AHL but nothing will change by waiting.
Like I said nothing changes by waiting but everyone should be cautious about starting their clock in the AHL.What’s wrong if he starts in the AHL? That’s a step above NCAA. He’s a long shot to crack the roster next year.
I’m not sure I understand your point. Are you suggesting that Ranta should refuse a contract this summer and play senior and become FA? That would be best for him?Like I said nothing changes by waiting but everyone should be cautious about starting their clock in the AHL.
No, I’d like to see him signed. Although going FA is probably what IS best for him.I’m not sure I understand your point. Are you suggesting that Ranta should refuse a contract this summer and play senior and become FA? That would be best for him?
Got it.No, I’d like to see him signed. Although going FA is probably what IS best for him.
Isn't there a stat out there that mentions 60-70% of the NHLers nowadays have played in the AHL? Him playing in the AHL is okay, it's not the electric chair.Like I said nothing changes by waiting but everyone should be cautious about starting their clock in the AHL.
