Based on Dorion's interview here is the update on the contract status of a few prospects.
Europe
The Sens have had contract talks with Mads Soogaard and he is expected to sign a contract after his season ends.
The Sens have had discussions with Viktor Lodin, Roby Jarventie and Eric Engstrand about joining Belleville next season. As a note Jarventie and Engstrand are signed by their European teams through 2021-2022 so that could create some hurdles about bringing them over. Lodin's contract expires with his European team at the end of the season and his NHL rights expire by June 1st, 2021, so there is a good chance he will sign.
NCAA
Dorion has had discussions with the family advisors for all the UND guys. There wasn't much of an update here but Dorion mentioned that he told all of JBD, Sanderson, Pinto and Kleven to worry about the NCAA tournament for now. No real clarity on which players might turn pro and which might go back for another season.
He mentioned he really like Crookshank's development this season and thought having him turning pro would be best for his development. He said typically they like to wait until college players finish their 4 years before turning pro.
He also mentioned their are some other NCAA guys they need to look at. He didn't mention any by name but the remaining NCAA prospects are Jakov Novak, Johnny Tychonick. Luke Loheit and Todd Burgess. Tychonick just swtiched schools and is finishing his 3rd season in the NCAA so it seems unlikely he would turn pro. Loheit just finished his second season and would likely benefit from another two seasons where he could take on a bigger role. Burgess is 24, has played 5 seasons in the NCAA and his rights expire on August 15th,2021. I don't know if the Sens intend to sign him, maybe an AHL deal but an NHL deal seems unlikely. Novak seems like the only one from that group that could turn pro. He has completed 3 seasons in the NCAA, took on a prominent role with his team, is the leading goal scorer and point producer on his team and is a 2 time Hobey Baker nominee.
