Brassard and Granlund are still out there.

Not saying either makes them a cup favorite, but the optimist in me says that the closer we get to the start of the season, the cheaper they may become.

I’d rather either guy in the top 9 over Ritchie, Bjork, Senyshyn, etc.

Marchand, Krejci, Bergeron, Pasta, Coyle, Smith, JDB, Kase, Brassard or Granlund.

No they're not. Brassard is in Arizona and Granlund went back to Nashville

I wouldn’t call them overly physical. McAvoy is their most punishing hitter.

Fast? Debatable.

McAvoy fast and physical.
Carlo fast and size.
Gryz fast and skilled.
Lauzon fast and physical.
Zboril fast and physical.
Clifton fast and physical.

And all young.

Not even counting Vaak.

Bruins in great shape on D

Best line in NHL.

Top G duo.

Great F depth.

Team to beat in new division.

Lots of things have to go wrong for them not to be in top-4 after 56.

Enjoy another great Bruins season guys!

They’re undersized and get punished in the corners, too.

McAvoy is all around a beast, yes.

Carlo has size, but doesn’t use it often.
Clifton is small, and I guess somewhat physical
Grzelcyk is small, and fairly skilled.
Lauzon is decently physical.

There’s a significant drop off in overall talent from McAvoy to the next d-man. Significant.

There also still undersized up front, which is a legitimate issue in the post season.

Smith for me is what you want DeBrusk to be (but with better goal totals). Do you play the two together or pair Smith w/ Coyle for a solid 3rd line duo
I think both JDB and Smith should be on the 3rd with Coyle as JDB sucks with Krejci.

But alas, our GM continues to insist on not putting either player in a position to succeed. It’s so maddening.

No PTO's yet to mention. Our old prospect Zane McIntrye is getting one with the Yotes. Crazy that he is 28 now, time flies. Camps start soon, better get guys signed or brought in soon.

I would have liked to see us take a flyer on this kid who went undrafted last year but he signed in Sweden with Vasby, oh well maybe next year. He was 6th in scoring in the OHL. Vid shows him looking like a Left Wing lighter version of Pasta.

He scored 45 goals in 63 games and had 96 pts for the Guelph Storm. Maybe Dom or even Don can chip in with first hand knowledge of how he looked in the OHL and why he went undrafted twice. IS he worth taking a gamble on him, we need scoring.

I'm late to respond to this, way too many things on the go but here it goes re: Brady Lyle:

You might want to start by reading this Dominic Tiano: Bruins sign Lyle to 2-year AHL Contract | scoutingpost

Now, you have to understand what I mean by a "Stan Butler coached team". He is a defensive specialist and that's what his teams are expected to play. Think like the old New Jersey Devils. His d-men are taught from day one to concentrate strictly on defence and let the forwards look after the offence. Once he got away from Butler, the offence flourished.

That's not to say his success will continue. Interesting player for sure but no guarantees. The AHL contract gives him the opportunity to work towards an NHL deal. And don't forget the Bruins have an AHL roster to fill as well. I'm not giving up on him even though it sounds like it. Just guarded optimism.

Why AHL contracts over NHL contracts Dominic Tiano: Lyle, Messner, Voyer- Why AHL Contracts vs NHL? | scoutingpost

Then the Bruins have six unrestricted free agent skaters: Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, Kevan Miller, Joakim Nordstrom, Alex Petrovic and Ryan Fitzgerald (who is a group 6 UFA). It’s reasonable to assume from that group the Bruins are likely to make offers to Chara, Krug and Miller to retain their services and even more likely that just two of them will be back. But if they truly want to bring three of them back, they need a contract spot.

Geez, we may only get one of them back and it's Miller?

I don't mind going young but right now this team is no better than last season in a better division. They again failed to add and really don't trust DS at the deadline.
As is, I believe it will be very difficult for the Bruins to end up in the top 4 of the division.

Their is a good chance they will not be in the playoffs.

No need to sign any scrubs. We have so much young talent knocking on the door. Zboril vak achan lauzon can fill any holes in D. We have kevan millar also for experience. Seny bjork kase Ritchie stud all young ready for the front lines. We good . We good. Let's go !!!

I find people are super one sided when talking about Krug. “He’s bad defensively” - I mean, sure, he’s not great defensively... but then when you bring up the offense it’s “wELl tHeY wErE mOsTly PP pOInTS!”

I think people completely undervalue the fact that he’s an elite power play guy, and makes it that much more lethal.

McAvoy is the next best d-man offensively, and then there’s an absolute cliff to the next.

Well...ever since he hurt himself a few years back, his shot, specifically his slap shot, has gone south. So, it would seem Gryz only needs to learn how to spread the puck around from up top. I just don’t see that as some huge step for a guy with skills that has played with most of our top guys for years.

I do believe being put in prime situations, with guys from the perfection line, will quickly translate to points, and lots of them. The good news is...we’ll find out.

Smith & Coyle give you a super third line

Pastrnak drives a line - he should be on the same line with DeBrusk. These two are very tight and Pastrnak would raise DeBrusk level

Who would you put on that line with Smith and Coyle?

My bad...was wrong about Brassard but confused Granlund with Grabner.

Grabner. Damn. As long as he’s still got top speed, I’d be all-for that.

I’ve given up on physical being any kind of focus...they pay lip service to addressing it...but don’t dive in and fix it, they give it a few half fixes and call it.

So, yeah, gimmie speed.

“The 30-year-old winger for the Arizona Coyotes was voted the second-fastest skater in the NHL in a poll of his peers last season, second only to McDavid.
Grabner, who grew up in Austria, credits off-ice training with helping him develop his breakneck speed.
"In Austria, we don't really skate in the beginning of summer—there's no ice there," Grabner told Men's Journal. "So I'm always in the gym doing a lot of work instead. That's where my lower-body power comes in. You need it to stay explosive, stay fast."

DeBrusk has more natural talent, but Smith is a very polished all-around player. I’m psyched to have Smith on the team. Even though DS failed the offseason, Smith was a great add. Always liked him.
