They’re undersized and get punished in the corners, too.

McAvoy is all around a beast, yes.

Carlo has size, but doesn’t use it often.
Clifton is small, and I guess somewhat physical
Grzelcyk is small, and fairly skilled.
Lauzon is decently physical.

There’s a significant drop off in overall talent from McAvoy to the next d-man. Significant.

There also still undersized up front, which is a legitimate issue in the post season.

Anyone who thinks this Defense is better then Average has to be a Homer...

We have a 1B dman in McAvoy. Maybe he becomes an 1A
Carlo......Is a wet napkin.......He is a number 4 Dman. But barely.
Clifton is OK...He is willing and can skate pretty well but he is a 5-6-7 Dman
Grzelcyk....Is at best a number 5-6 Dman. Not even close to a tp 4 DMan.
Louzan to me has potential. Maybe he grows into a top 4 guy....But i see a 4-5 guy who can step up when needed
Zboril.....who knows but i am guessing a 5-6 Guy

This team needs a 1A or another 1B and a number 3 guy. Getting a Hanifan or and OEL......Is still imperitive and if not. Chara needs to be signed to at least make us look more intimidatiing........He can play with Carlo on the 2nd pairing....Be nice if Zboril or Vaakanainen can excell to their draft staus........I am hoping Vaakanainen can be a top four guy. But lets not think this D is better then average. Its not. Also if McAvoy ever gets hurt.....I shutter to think....

I can't fathom that people have watched McAvoy play over the last few seasons and still don't consider him a 1A.
