Juuse SarosI have trouble getting excited about a 5'11" goalie.

Honestly at this point if he becomes a good back up even I think we should be happy and that in itself is something to get excited over. Oilers should be looking to find a long-term starter this summer and then have Ilya/Skinner/Rodrigue fighting for the back up position in the coming years. If one of them takes off an becomes a starting goalie to push out the #1 that we hopefully get this summer then even better as it will open up cap space in the future for a couple years. If you can develop your own starting goalie you usually get a couple cheaper years from them before they need to be paid.Alex Nedeljkovic is 6'0"
Raanta is 6'0"
DeSmith is 6'0"
Halak is 5'11''
Khudabin is 5'11''
We need some goaler prospects with more upside and with expansion our chances are golden.Honestly at this point if he becomes a good back up even I think we should be happy and that in itself is something to get excited over. Holland however will sit.
Upset? Just an observation--perhaps a judgement on Holland based on his career timeline. It’s odd to be upset over something that hasn’t come to pass.

Could be.Nah, it’s just manufactured disappointment based on something that hasn’t happened.
It looks like the prospects listing uses a different content management(?) system than the main roster page: Edmonton Oilers 2020 Roster. Maybe they're still working on switching over. They must have updated it within the year because Quine and Griffith were only signed recently. Weird.
With all the talk about Konovalov I still believe Skinner is our top goalie prospect. Guys having a hell of a year.

Koskinen is 6'7 and most of us can't wait to be rid of him... in the end I think if he's got the skills that's all that matters.I have trouble getting excited about a 5'11" goalie.
This kid never ceases to surprise. IMO we have a legit top 6 NHLer in the making in Blumel.
Different era.
No doubt, but back then, there weren't a lot of 6'6" goalies. Those guys seemed to really rely on reflexes. Now, it's all about positioning. Now, every 2nd guy seems like a monster. 6'3" seems to be an average. And then they strap those enormous pads on them with a casting net for a glove (or frying pan in some cases), and it's a wonder anyone can score.Yes, but as seen by that huge save before the Marchand goal, sometimes those smaller goalies produce the best highlight reel and momentum changing saves. IMO if you're good enough at your craft it can overcome some size issues.
