Sam is still young and I expect him to continue to grow. He was very bad yesterday, but he certainly wasn't alone. I'd only give Bell a pass for yesterday's catastrophe, but even that's a stretch.

I worry that Gase actually gets another year here even if we continue to lose games in this manner. I know he's supposed to be some offensive guru supposedly, but he seems incapable of leading a team as a coach. I'll feel better the sooner Gase is out the door.

I swear that we need surgery for all the KNEE-JERK'ing going on here by some. :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

I thought that NJDevs would be just a tiny bit understanding of the situation but apparently he's as pessimistic as the next Jets fan (if he is a Jets fan). :whatever:

I am not that way and of course neither are you.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Sam Darnold will bounce back next game, the Jets will win, and all will be right with the world again.

He is the real deal and IS a Franchise QB.

He just ran into the wrong team at the wrong time against the wrong coach while having zero help from his own Coach and O-Line.....and Defense.....and even Special Teams. (the perfect maelstrom of Suck)

There is that sliver of concern that he might have been mentally-damaged the way that Mark Sanchez was against the Ravens but I think Sam is made of sterner stuff than Mark and will have selective amnesia regarding this game and focus on the next game. 'Cause that was Mark's problem : Dwelling on his past failure instead of focusing on the present.

Sam darnold is a much smarter and more accurate passer. Mark Sanchez couldn't carry Sam's jock strap

I wouldn’t hold the ghost comment against him. I am sure every player says discouraging things during an assbeating. It just sucks it was on a hot mic

Gase is awful though.
It Darnold moves fwd as if it was a nothing comment, then it will be a nothing comment.

If Darnold struggles, and looks to be a shook QB then that comment will continue to hover.

Except this seems to be the formula with too many North American pro sports franchises, especially in this area.

Draft high, spend the money, have a rotating cast of coaches, rinse repeat.

I firmly believe the Jets, Knicks, and Mets all suffer from the same ailment. Abject incompetence from ownership.

Do any of us really need more reasons to loathe one of the main perpetrators of the opioid epidemic, the housing crisis, or a trash cable provider?

I'm as guilty as plenty given that I've been to a Jets and a Mets game in the last 12 months, but when is enough enough? The players get slammed - correctly imo - for their conduct all of the time. Yet these lowlife owners walk away with full bellies year after year regardless of the product they're purveying or the crimes they're committing.

Fans have to stop spending money on incompetence. Thats when owners will pack it in.

Did everyone suddenly forget what he did against the cowboys?

He's a boat floating on a sea of **** right now. There is little talent on the team and the offensive coaches are brutally bad.

The Cowboy game where he was barely touched? No but any NFL QB should at least be competent when you only get sacked a couple times and rarely get pressured. People can ***** about Gase but we're stuck with him at least through next year given he got veto power over the GM so it's a package deal for the moment unfortunately.

Yeah well I've seen this song and dance with the Jets before. Browning Nagle had one great game to start his career and pfft. Chad Pennington should have been the franchise QB but was made of glass. Vinny got taken off the scrap heap by Parcells and Belichick to have an MVP season and then gets hurt the first week of 1999. We know the Sanchez deal, a great big dose of faux hope after his first two years. Before my time it was Richard Todd and Ken O'Brien who were first-rounders that had flashes and ultimately dissapointed for different reasons.

After what Darnold did against Dallas I was excited, I admit that - especially after the JOKE QB'ing of the previous few weeks. Then he **** his pants against the Pats, played like a joke himself and had another Jet moment with the hot mic where the whole world gets to laugh at and mock this franchise on national TV yet again. Funny how the Jets always seem to save their most embarassing moments for national TV, it's a big reason why we always get mocked as a joke. So now last week looks like just another dose of faux hope that's going to end up leading to a dissapointment.

This is exactly the issue with being a Jets fan. I was bitching about the team to a friend once and he pointed out that they're not a historically terrible team the way the Browns or Lions or Bengals are, but that's not the point. The point is the ongoing humiliation on national TV at the hands of your biggest rival. I mean, is there a more famous play in the last 10 years than the butt fumble? I must've seen it a hundred times by now.

Eventually the butt fumble will pass. At one point the Leon Lett Don Beebe play was stuck on a loop but it’s forgotten now. The play by Marcus Williams to hand the playoff game to the Vikings two years ago was on heavy rotation for a while but it is fading. If NY let go of the butt fumble it would start to fade also as I see it. Don’t forget Joe Pisarchick (spelling?) did something similar at the Miracle in the Meadowlands for the Eagles and even that is relegated to the dustbin of sports history. George Harrison was correct.

Are you Joe Beningo? :skeptic:

I became a Jets fan in '97 so I missed Browning Nagle but didn't miss Neil "Let me get sacked 'cause I hold onto the ball too long" O'Donnell or Glenn "He is better than nothing which we currently have" Foley.

I have experienced embarassment and humiliation as befits a Jets fan but I always kept the faith that one day.....one day we would find our Franchise QB to finally begin our ascendance back to NFL Relevance as a team and franchise.

And in my opinion, we did find him in Sam Darnold.

I am not going to sit here and pronounce someone who only played 3 games this year (each game with a different outcome in both result and performance)....a bust just 'cause we lost to the f--king Patriots!!! In case you haven't noticed, they are beating everyone else, too, Devs!

Let's see what happens against Jacksonville...

Welp Gregg Williams' supposedly great defense isn't exactly distinguishing itself this season either. Two flat out easy TD's given up.

Darnold doing very little to put the narrative of last week behind him tbh. Yeah he had a great opening drive then one stupid momentum-changing INT and everything's gone to **** since. It would be nice if the offensive line actually 'tried' to block someone in the last several minutes though.

The talent does suck too (especially this joke of an o-line)...and Gase we're stuck with through next year almost certainly so it's kinda futile to pound that nail down atm. At least the GM who put together this so-called talent already paid with his job.

I was expecting the D to be a little more competent at least with Williams. And if Jamal Adams wants to whine about being a winner and subtweet everyone then make some ****ing plays at least.

At least Darnold did drag the team down the field to get the Jets back in the game, maybe his best drive as a Jet considering the dude really does have no time at this point.

And AGAIN when Darnold is about to get me back on his side he throws away another stupid one on one of the few passes all game where he had no pressure. Of course he probably is legitimately seeing ghosts at this point :P

So far, Joe Douglas doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence considering the fiasco that is the Osemele situation

That's another story although that's more a Met-like off-field PR and medical fiasco than suggesting anything about the guy's ability to GM.

If the guys labrum is falling off and the guy clearly can't block correctly, isn't that on the GM to be aware of the situation?

I mean that really should be the coach and medical staff's perview in-season (if he was damaged goods when we acquired him that's another thing) but yeah, in end the buck stops with the GM and they shouldn't be going to the mat on this one.
