Interesting invite. He was decent for Syracuse in 2017-2018 but lost all of 2018-2019 with injuries and surgeries. Could definitely be a nice add if he recovered and he doesn't count as a vet despite being 28.

And for once, it's the Habs organization that brings in a player from the Lightning.

So Laval's camp roster right now should consist of:

F: Evans, Vejdemo, Alain, Pezzetta, Waked, Belzile, Jevpalovs, Adams-Moisan, Pelletier.
F Try-Outs: Milan, McNicholas, Bouvet-Morissette, Lynch.
Awaiting to clear waivers: Barber

D: Brook, Leskinen, Sklenicka, Lamarche, Culkin.
D Try-Outs: Crevier-Morin, Sylvestre, Racine

G: Primeau, McNiven, LaCouvee

Part of the buy-in includes homework, which Bouchard doled out to every single player, with the exception of Belzile, as a parting gift at the end of the season. It’s not homework in the traditional sense; no one is studying the Pythagorean theorem. We’re talking about exercise plans, weight-loss instructions and a list of weaknesses they need to work on during their off months.

For Evans, the homework included taking shots on his brand new shooting tarp and shooter tutor, which was purchased by none other than Bouchard himself. (Source: Dumont)

Bouchard said he is very proud of his class of rookies from last year (Evans, Fleury, Pezzetta, Verbeek, Alain, and Vejdemo). As you say, they gave them homework for the off-season and every single one of them came to camp having accomplished what they asked them to do. They all came to camp in great shape.

Laval play their first preseason today at 3PM against Belleville. The game will be broadcast on radio on 91.9 Sports FM.

None of the players who were sent down the other day just jumped on the ice but will not take part in the game today.

I did not know Peca was sent down and cleared waivers.

They need to either make a trade or loan one of Lindgren/McNiven, can't have 3 goalies, it really hurt McNiven in his rookie year to sit that much in between starts, you just don't want to see a 20 year old sitting.

With Hudon and Lindgren + eventually Juulsen + McCarron, Laval has a strong cast of players.

if they can't loan him to an AHL team or trade one of the two, then that hopefully would be the plan. Have the vet in Lindgren mentor the 20 year old rookie as no matter how good Primeau is he's going to have his ups and downs adjusting to the new league I would think. Last year the Caps 1st round pick Samsonov was a 22 year old rookie in the AHL after putting up sick numbers in the KHL and was seen as one of the very best goalie prospects but he really struggled in the first half. With Laval's defense I would expect Primeau to have a better season but we'll see.

Every invite has been released except for Lynch, which should mean he will get an AHL contract.

Don't quite understand why you wouldn't give them AHL two way deals. That way if you need them they are your AHL property. Instead of the usual garbage they give PTO's to every year to replace injuries and call ups.

Seriously, you ask why?

OK, let me 'splain.

As of tonight, after the Habs demote one more player, Laval will have 25 NHL contracts under their control.

Then, in addition, they already have 7 more guys on AHL contract, including 3 (Lamarche, Pelletier and Jevpalovs) who are one-way deals and can't be demoted to the ECHL.

And finally, they still have one more guy (Lynch) on tryout that was not released.

At 33 players, they have way more than enough to ice 20 on any given night.

If they don't sign them, it's because they didn't impress enough.

They can be demoted to the ECHL. All the one-way guarantees them is they are paid the same salary whether they are in AHL or ECHL.
