They can be demoted to the ECHL. All the one-way guarantees them is they are paid the same salary whether they are in AHL or ECHL.

Ok if that's true, but I have not seen the club do that with guys on AHL one-way contracts.

And it does not change the main point, which is that Laval will have 33 players under control as of tomorrow (or 32 if the last Habs cut is taken off waivers)

Don't quite understand why you wouldn't give them AHL two way deals. That way if you need them they are your AHL property. Instead of the usual garbage they give PTO's to every year to replace injuries and call ups.
Most of these guys were ''the usual garbage they give PTO's to''. Only Lynch played well and is a nice gamble. Maybe Racine if you need a face puncher but we don't really need one.

I agree but still a guy like McNikolas who was a leading goal scorer on his team last year would cost like 30k to guarantee he is yours if you do need him later in the season.

they brought in Joe Cox last year later in the season and he was leading his ECHL team in goals, he played just 55 games and still led his team in goals and points. So it's really not a big deal, if they need help they will find it from a player doing well on his ECHL team. Perhaps when they have their own ECHL team again they will look to add these types but then again with the large number of possible incoming rookies to Laval over the next 2-3 years or more, there just won't be much room at the inn.

With Suzuki, Poehling, Fleury poised to spend a lot of time in Montreal this year Laval went from a great young team that will surely make the playoffs to a line-up filled with waiver-eligible veterans that nobody wants and will probably half-ass it and we'll end up dead last again

Thing is, Racine has played over 260 games in the AHL, which would make him the 7th vet and cause the club to have to sit at least one vet each game.

Seeing as they want all of Weise, Varone, Hudon, Peca, Ouelett and Alzner in the lineup, there is no room for Racine anyway.

Unless a trade occurs by Friday, these players should be available for Laval's season opener:

Poehling, Hudon, Belzile, Barber, Varone, Weise, Peca, Alzner, and Ouellet.

Add Evans, Brook, Leskinen, Alain, and Vejdemo.

And of course Lindgren and Primeau in nets.

Should be very fun.

With Mccarron and Juulsen:

Hudon - Poehling - Barber
Varone - Evans - Belzile
Peca - McCarron - Weise
Jevpalov - Vejdemo - Alain

Alzner - Brook
Ouellet - Juulsen
Leskinen - Sklenicka

Primeau
Lindgren

That has to be one of the best ahl teams in the league.
Our top 3 lines are number 1 lines
Our top 2 pairings are number 1 pairings
Both our goaltenders are number 1 as well.

And this lineup doesn't even include Teasdale, who likely wouldve been solid as well

That is said every year for the past several. We'll see. Injuries, callups and disappointments can change things.
