With Stastny:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Laine-Stastny-Ehlers
Perreault-Little-Roslovic
Lowry-Copp-Tanev

Without Stastny:

Laine-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Roslovic-Ehlers
Perreault-Little-Petan/Dano
Lowry-Copp-Tanev

Niku-Byfuglien
Morrissey-Trouba
Kulikov-Myers/Poolman
Morrow

Hellebuyck
Comrie

Might even think Brendan Lemieux could be in instead of Petan/Dano.

My guess... with some comments.

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler... (Predatory scoring line. Match them up against bottom-6 and give them o-zone starts where possible.)
Ehlers-Stastny-Laine... (Big scoring line, with Stastny giving d-zone protection (he's really good at shot suppression).
Perreault-Little-Roslovic... (Buzz-saw forward line that can score and match other lines up and down the line-up.)
Copp-Lowry-Tanev/Dano... (Elite shut-down line, adds a bit of offense with Dano on the wing. Protects top lines and takes heavy d-zone use).

Morrissey-Trouba... (do-it-all top pairing)
Morrow-Buff... (strong possession 2nd pairing. They were great together in limited usage last year).
Kulikov-Poolman... (Kulikov eases in alongside a very good young RD. They don't lose much with Poolman instead of Myers).

Hellebuyck / ??? (free agent)

Reserves: Petan, Dano, Chiarot (won't be surprised if Dano is moved, and Lemieux or Appleton end up on the roster)

Laine- Scheif- Wheels
Connor- Little- Ehlers
Perreault- Roslo- Petan/Dano
Copp- Lowry- Tanev

Split up Ehlers and Laine and let Roslo ease into C in sheltered role to start. OR:

Connor- Scheif- Wheeler
Laine- Roslo- Perreault
Petan/Dano- Little- Ehlers
Copp- Lowry- Tanev

I just don't want ELL and I don't think Ehlers-Laine- Roslo is the answer at all. We could try it. But I would be shocked if Roslo stepped in there and that line clicked and was not a defensive liability

So no Stastny, assuming Roslovic moves into the C role, and pretending Little + Laine doesn't make people rage,

Connor Scheif Wheeler
Ehlers Little Laine
Perreault Roslovic _____
Copp Lowry Tanev

Dano or Petan?

Or does Vesalainen roar on to the team and the Jets move Ehlers to the right side like he played in his rookie year?

Cheveldayoff just had press conference and I think he has Vesalainen penciled in starting line up. Based on his play in Finland I think he is ready. He can also play both wings so he is easy to slide in the line up.

Connor Scheifele Wheeler
Ehlers Roslovic Laine
Perrault Little Vesalainen
Copp Lowry Tanev

Here is my revised cap projections and roster based off of not retaining Stastny and Chevy's press conference today:

We will still need to trade a Chariot in order to give all of Trouba, Morrissey and Helle long term deals.
I have Ves getting the same rookie contract as Roslovic.

Copp - Lowry - Tanev

MoJo - Trouba
Myers - Buff
Morrow - Poolman

Helly
Comrie

Three really strong scoring lines with a shut down 4th to create line mis-matches. Myers to the left side means more ice for all of the Top 4.

Somewhere nice
Jets got better starting roaster this yesr compared to last year actual for the beginning of the season.

Laine got a year older when most young superstars is starting to hit their stride.

My line up

Laine Schiefele Wheeler/ehlers
Connor Little Ehlers/Wheeler

Bottom 6 ( no 3rd or 4th line stuff)

Perrault Petan Roslovic
Copp Lowry Tanev

With Dano and vesalainen appleton and lemiuex as call ups.

Imagine 4th line before of Perrault Hendrick Armia doing damage.
As long as Petan gets his mojo (confidence) that PPR line is way more skilled than last year's 4th line jesus line.

Hope Petan really push push hard to get in. He has the necessary skills to make it. He was there at the door steps 2 years in a row.
The door opens again this year.
Hope he grabs it.
Roslo he is already here to stay, he just need to bulk up abit.

I'm more worried of the Jets top 6 D now.

Morrissey Trouba

*Rotating player with Buff

Kulikov Myers

*Niku Morrow Chairo(poolman is the 4th RD).

Hope Niku breaks the door as well.

Go Jets Go.

As for the goalie?

Helly wins the vez this year

I would maybe give this a try. Although I’m not sure about the second line though. To me Laine and Ehlers are just not right together. And as Roslo is still completely unproven as an NHL center, it seems like a quite risky line. Maybe that line could still work, but I do also fear for it being a real letdown. Laine and Ehlers just don’t connect naturally and their play together looks most of the time very forced.

Mine, with comments:

Laine - Scheif - Wheeler [It's time for our two best play drivers to play with our best scorer. Hard to argue IMO]

Ehlers - Little - Perreault [This line had tons of chemistry last year and great corsi. All three had down periods at various times so why not try this again? This would also be a secondary 'matchup line' so some heavy lifting; hopefully Ehlers can improve his style of play VS better players.]

Connor - Roslovic - dano/appleton/vesalainen [Question mark here on the wing. Maybe we bring someone in? But this would be the soft matchup better-than-their-opponents line to add scoring and help blood Roslo at centre. Connor and Roslovic have undeniable chemistry. Just need a right winger.]

Copp - Lowry - Tanev [this one doesn't need explanation].

Morrisey - Trouba
Morrow (Niku?) - Buff
Kulikov - Myers

Niku / Poolman / Chiarot on deck, in that order.

Cant Dano crack the lineup? He did really good in Columbus, but after the Chicago trade he seems to have tought time to take a spot.. Did he lost his confident? Cant he handle the pressure? I know Chicago wanted him to take a top 6 role..

Not sure if it's been posted here, but Garret had an interesting idea - put Petan with Scheifele and Wheeler. Actually, I like the idea...

Petan-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Roslovic-Laine
Perreault-Little-Ehlers
Copp-Lowry-Tanev

Each of the first 3 lines have good balance with puck-getters (Scheif, Wheeler, Roslo, Connor, Perreault), scorers and passers. I think you just give Lowry's line tough match-ups buried in their own zone, and then roll the other three lines.

I don't see Laine being moved up with Chef and Wheels unless he improves his pace. I also think that's why we didn't see it last season. I also don't see Chef and Wheels being split up unless they ask for it (which I doubt they will).

That means a top 9 of:

Connor/Ehlers - Chef - Wheels
Ehlers/Connor - Little - Laine
Frenchie - Rosie - Tanev/Copp/Dano/Petan

If it were up to me I would split up Chef/Wheels and Laine/Ehlers and go with something along the lines of:

Frenchie - Chef - Ehlers/Laine
Laine/Ehlers - Little - Wheels
Connor - Rosie - Copp

Ehlers, Frenchie, Laine and Connor would be moved around based on form but I like the idea of Little/Wheels being a thing.

That leaves your top line with Scheifele being the only "shooter" while also having all the responsibilities of a center. It could definitely work but in my mind Petan and Wheels are both set up men. I'd like a solid forechecker instead of one of them.

I don't know why we don't use our three "shooting" wingers in Laine, Connor and Ehlers and put one on each line in the top 9. Then add a forechecker and a "passer" and we should have a top 9 that should be able to get it done.

OR

Connor (shoot) Scheifele (chase) Wheeler (pass)

Perreault (chase) Little (pass) Ehlers (shoot)

Petan (pass) Roslovic (chase) Laine (shoot)

As it stands there's going to be a training camp battle for one Top 9 spot between Petan, Vesalainen, Appleton and Lemieux.

What about...
Vaseline Little Wheeler 12.0
vets help the youngster.
Connor Roslo Ehlers 8.0
fastest line in the league
Petan Scheif Laine 8.0
Petan's last kick at the can
Copp Lowry Tanev 5.0 money
Dano 1.0
why not? he's has been more than adequate well called on.

JMo Trouba 13.0
nuff said
Niku Buff 8.5
Buff makes another youngster look good as he teaches him the game.
Kuli Poolman 10.0
above average 3rd line that doesn't see over 14 minutes of ice time per game.
Poolman Morrow 2.0
adequate left and right replacements

Helle Comrie/Brossoit 6.0 I'd like to see a better back up.

73.5m and add another 3.75 for bonuses for 77.25m

enough room for injuries if we don't get lots of them
