So that leaves MacDermid, Fantenberg, Brickley, LaDue, JAD, Wagner and Etem.

Safe picks would be LaDue and Brickley then Etem getting a contract.

Kovalchuk-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Iafallo-Kempe-Lewis
Clifford-Amadio-Thompson
*Etem, JAD

*Brodzinksi out long term, Vilardi questionable.

Forbort-Doughty (Assuming he's ready by the start of the regular season since he's skating already.)
Muzzin-Martinez
Phaneuf-LaDue

*Brickley

Quick Campbell

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kovy-Carter-Kempe
Pearson-Amadio-Toffoli

these lines make a lot of sense, and i 2nd Ziggy's sentiment of being fed up of that 70s line

Clifford-Thompson-Lewis

love Lewis on the 4th where he belongs, and hoping we can replace Clifford & Thompson w/ Etem & JAD

Clauge has been a major disappointment.

Kings practice today

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kempe-Carter-Kovalchuk
Pearson-Amadio-Toffoli
Clifford-Thompson-Lewis
Wagner-JAD-Etem
I like this. Those top 3 lines can be rolled more evenly and Kempe is a better wing than center.

My only concern is that Kovalchuk isn't as effective on the right side. The roster is a bit LW heavy.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kempe-Carter-Kovalchuck
Pearson-Amadio-Toffoli
Clifford-Lewis-Etem
Brodz, Thompson

Forbort/Brickley-Doughty
Muzzin-LaDue
Forbort/Brickley-Phaneuf/Martinez

Ending up with a opening line-up like this would satisfy me.

If Forbort comes back, Brickley will go down. They won’t make him a healthy scratch. Also, expect Kings to go with one extra forward and two extra D so they don’t likely lose MacD and Fantenberg on waivers.

Don't think it's a definite that Brickley would be sent down (and I assume Mac will get waived). If he's playing good enough to be a regular they'll rotate through Phaneuf/Ladue as extras and Fantenberg as the 8

Phaneuf takes up too much cap space to be in a regular rotation, and LaDue is the only other RHD. If that's the best Brickley can get to right now, Ontario is right down the street. Let him play all the time down there, and it's easy enough to call him up if need be. Or somehow finally get rid of M or M, and have Brickley play those minutes.

Clauge has been a major disappointment.

Yet he leads the team in scoring (tied) through 2 games at 3 points. First of all, he's a 2nd rounder, not a high first round pick. Just give him some time in the AHL as he physically matures and improves his defensive play with the development staff. What did it take, 4-5 years for Forbort as a first round pick to make it? It won't take Clague near that long.

If Phaneuf isn't one of the 6 best dmen we shouldn't regularly play him, no matter how much he gets paid. IDK if Stevens/Blake/etc care as much about having extra RHD if it means benching a better player. From what I've heard/read it seems like Brickley is one of the 6 best dmen on the team, and we should make sure we're playing him if he is

Could also help next summer since it seemed like we offered NHL time to get him to come

The only problem with Brickley not making it this year can he make the team next year?

Doughty, Muzzin, Forbort, Muzzin, Phaneuf all have contracts beyond this year. We all expect LaDue to make the team, he is waiver eligible and has a two year deal. So if Brickley makes the team, someone has to go...MacD and Fattenberg are basically #7/8 guys and can rotate in for injuries or if LaDue struggles. But Kings will want Brickley playing full time either in LA or Ontario, not rotating as a #7 or #8 D.

FYI - Amadio is waiver exempt as well.
