Proved right there Mackenzie doesn't have a clue whats going on with the Leafs. He's talking a pile of nonsense lately. Thats because everyone here was rude a$$clowns to him when he was on here lol.

Obviously the big wildcard here is who we draft, but Matthews would be amazing. If we get him, I think we deal Bozak, and keep just one of Holland/Laich. I also see Nylander at centre, not on the wing. In the dream "draft Matthews" scenario, I'd go with something like:

That may be unrealistically young, but I think a lot of these young guns are better than some of our weak older players like Lupul, Greening, Michalek, etc., not hard to imagine all of those being waived. Marincin I think is also pretty borderline, wouldn't be hard to find a better UFA to fill his spot. Marner's a big question mark, who knows if he makes the team, but I can see him getting there, especially since another year in London would be a bit of a waste for him, he's just too good for the OHL and won't be properly challenged.

Also, if we get Matthews (HUGE "if"), eventually the centre rotation would reverse (Matthews 1C, Nylander 2C, Kadri 3C), but just for next season I'd expect Kadri > Nylander > Matthews.

Nice lineup but I think Nylander is playing wing next year to start. Babcock said he would have started Nylander at wing if we had a healthy group but since we don't, it's trial by fire.

I know it was a short sample but I felt kapanen looked the most ready for NHL duties along with shoshnikov.

I think we might see him on the top line with kadri and komarov next season
JVR bozak and Nylander will be the second line and Mathews can probably centre the third with shosh and leivo/brown

As for defence Rielly and Gards are pretty much the only confirmed spots for me, all the others can easily replace each other, I personally like Percy , hunwick, corrado and zaitsev as starters.

Haha fixed. I'm pn a phone man and have big fingers i guess. I wouldn't expect that line-up at all next year. Atleast he respects kadri enough to put him first line though. If we can get Kadri signed long term for a reasonable amount it bodes well for our center depth down the road.

Matthews, Nylander and Marner if(if it turns out like that come draft day) will all need seasoning. Signing Kadri now for 5 year in the 4.8 to 5.3 range buys that time. Marner playing as 13th forward though as he mentioned would completely destroy Marners development. I would not think the teardown is complete with the older Bozak still here.

Lou Lam guessed that the line-up would change by about 50% turnover too.

You have managed to make a ton of cap disappear and then add a ton of cap(not even sure your roster fits under the cap)

they have been doing that all winter tho

what ever team had the highest odd at that time they would just "mock" place the players on those teams in projected draft order

Better than 2 years of Lupul, and given his injuries, it allows us to play our young goalies more while still providing a veteran mentor, which Bernier is not. It also opens up two forward slots which is important for us next year.

Even if the Leafs get Matthews, they're not going to go into the season with 2 rookie centres in the top 9. That's just asking these guys to underachieve.

Matthews starting in the AHL is certainly within the realm of possibility, but if he doesn't, Nylander can easily move to the wing. Reality is, unless the Leafs sign Stamkos (unlikely), the only centre they may trade away this summer is Holland, unless one of Kadri/Bozak end up being able to fetch us a defenceman we really, really, like.

Except it isn't. Matthews CANNOT play in the AHL, unless it is on a conditioning stint.
