All these guys declining to go only emphasizes how uninterested they are playing the game of hockey. Kessel should have gone. This guy needs to prove to people wrong. Instead he nonchalantly declines and disappears until next September. It's too bad.
This **** seems a little harsh. Given the year that they have had, including Kessel, I don't doubt that they may want to get away from the game and the spotlight for a while. How hard is that to understand?

It's not hard to understand for a bunch of lazy idiots like us who spend all our time on the internet.

Phil's one of us, and that's kinda the problem.

And what exactly would Canada win with Bernier in net? Most Hilarious Goals Against of the Tournament?

Bernier is a better goalie. That's why.

Canada's team looks great this year though, so they'll probably win despite Smith being in net. Bernier would certainly be a better option, however. Probably why he was asked first and Smith was his replacement.

There is no arguing with them, they are best ignored. Its an emotion based opinion which consistently ignores facts, kinda like the lottery conspiracy guys...

That forward group is probably one of the strongest we have sent in some time... goaltending could be an issue.

Rielly said he wants to go but has to meet with team doctors first so hopefully he can go.

Nothing wrong with that roster... As someone above mentioned probably one of the better crop of forwards that have participated for Canada at the World Championships in quite some time. The defence is a wee bit thin for my liking though, so we will see what happens after the first round of the playoffs and hopefully we can bolster the defence with a body or two.

Also IMO; Morgan Rielly is the perfect defenceman for the international ice. I hope he is able to take part in the tournament.

I'm just saying, for someone that everyone deems lazy and uninterested, it would have been nice for him to go. Am I surprised he didn't? No. It's just Phil Kessel being Phil Kessel. No surprises there.

Hopefully Price.

Price will more than likely decline, whats the incentive for him to go? He's pretty much a lock on the world cup team.

Exact same reason with Phil Kessel. He doesn't need to go to prove anything. The World Championships is one of the most unimportant IIHF tournaments now. If Phil doesn't want to go, who the **** cares. Some of you make a big deal out of nonsense, this World Championship isn't going to change the season he just had.
