I just hope we use our pick for a high potential high reward type of guy. I'd rather risk it to go big with a possible bust than to grab someone based off of size and just a "good" limited type that'll be an at best 2nd/3rd liner. This team needs an upcoming cup (or at least friggin playoffs for me), and grabbing some 3rd liner is just going to mix with the rest we have. We essentially have 2 elite forwards in G and V, a great 2 way shut down guy in Coots, and a great power forward PP guy in Simmer. The rest just mix in, I want a guy that goes 100% and is a complete difference maker. Then in 2 or 3 years if our Dman hopefully pan out we can make a damn good run. The bottom line is go big for a star payer at whatever it takes, whether staying put or maybe trading up or around if needed in the draft. I'm not bashing on any players specifically in the draft this is more towards I hope our scouting is doing their work and makes a damn good decision as they usually do. It's a draft I'd be aggressive in.

Obviously when we get the McJesus, the above I typed can get thrown out the window

In a perfect world I would like Barzal and Roy with Tampa pick, but I doubt Roy is there.

Barzal/Werenski/Crouse/Rantanen with our pick, Carlo/Roy with Tampa pick is my scenario.

Depending on our draft board which I would compare to a Christmas list, something we all would love to see. The flyers draft board that is, cuz I get about the same as Nick grossmann a pair of socks.
If j Roy is avail with tge Tampa pick, phone him and congratulate him and welcome him to the flyers family.
Carlo, this is where things get interesting. Is he that raw, Shea weber raw, at the same age. And what is his upside. I am guessing he will be more of a coburn or bouwmeester type. A strong defensive dman with some offense. Could you imagine using morin and Carlo to close out a game with a 1 or 2 goal lead. Or in the playoffs. That is a backend that could do some damage. Not a pretty puck moving pair. A large, quick, physical pair. That just needs to clear the defensive zone, get the puck to the forwards and let them dangle and kill the clock.
Now if we were down by a goal, you could go morin and ghost or sanheim and Carlo.
Interesting to see where the other 29 teams have Carlo ranked. All over the map.
Morin, ghost, sanheim,Carlo, hagg and Friedman. Sounds like a United nations law office. But in reality is a large, fast, physical, puck moving machine. What forwards wouldn't want to play with those guys. Mason sure would as a goalie.

I am not a big fan of the Carlo scouting reports. Seems like he is a classic stay at home defender. I would much rather target a player with a higher upside than that.

Good news. TSN is broadcasting 10 of the U-18 games this years. Apparently, it's all of Canada's games, 2 of the quarters, both semis, and the final.

Since they lost the NHL it is all they have. Good for us!

Wouldn't it be amazing if he somehow fell to us? I doubt this would be enough but there's still a chance that one of the teams ahead of us like someone like Provorov, Werenski, or Crouse over Marner.

Yah we need something good to happen to us. Winning the lotto would quicken our rebuild. Mcdavid would put us in a position of reload rather than rebuild.
Marner I do not know any details, but that is the last thing any fan would want. Interesting to see how that affects his draft ranking. We are sitting at 7 and obviously going bpa. The guys at 4,5,6 are gonna have a lot to think about. If Edmonton does not take hanifanhanifan, I would really be puzzled. He and nurse would be a really good foundation on their back end. Something they need in the tough western conference.
Carlo is one of the oddballs in the draft. I bet the 30 teams have him between the teens all the way down to the second round in terms of ranking.

Where is Zacha supposed to go? I thought he was supposed to be ranked pretty high but I don't see people mention him as much.

If we ended up with Marner at 7 I would jog a mile down rorad street in a speedo and I'm old and fat. That's how excited I'd be if he fell to the Flyers at 7.

Haha nice, what would you do if we won the lottery and got McDavid?

Trade McJesus and Amac to Buffalo for Eichel, Rinehart and 2016 1st

Then trade Rinehart, Grossman and Rinaldo (maybe Pronger too) for OEL

Use my 3 other #1's in 15 and 16 on stone cold scorers, wings preferably, sign a good veteran RHD, trade Streit for a late #1 2016 use for a shut down defender or a physical winger

Hire Providence College's coach

Win several Cups

Haven't thought about it much though

:D

If we won the lottery he'd do the same thing... just minus the speedo.

Would be interesting to see the media coverage of the millions of Flyer fans worldwide running naked through their streets screaming Connor. :)

I'm in!

So which CHL'er will the Flyers draft? I think they've only drafted 2 non-CHL players in the 1st round since 1997.

Pitkanen in 2002
JvR in 2007

OHL: 5 (Laughton, Downie, Carter, Richards, Williams)
WHL: 3 (Woywitka, Sbisa, Sanheim)
QMJHL: 5 (Gagne, Oullett, Giroux, Couturier, Morin)

Crouse, Meier, Zacha are the forwards that seem to fit.
