I hope Hextall gets to work on adding more picks.

Whatever he thinks is fair value, let it loose.

My gut feeling is that the flyers end up with Mikko Rantanen and Jeremy Roy.

What's Rantanens situation like? Anyone think he'd come over and play in the AHL right away?

I really think the Flyers might have a hard time not drafting Crouse.

1- Perfect "big body" that they want for the Giroux-Voracek combo who can create space, drive the net and can score. Good defensively and can help them when pinned in the Flyers' zone.
2- High compete level which Hextall mentioned as an issue when acquiring Gudas. Voted hardest worker in OHL (conference). Brings it every night (issue with many on the team now).
3- Good PKer available after a year which witnessed a horrible PK really hurt this team.

They will take BPA, but there are so many things about Crouse's game that they want on the team now. Also, it wouldn't surprise if he made the team next season.

That would be a tall order, Hextall has shown serious patience

Grossmann or LSchenn for a 3rd rounder would be good.

I am not sure if Edmonton has a third rounder but they would be ideal. That or Arizona. One poster from the Arizona board said they would be interested in Schenn. If they have a second rounder that is not theirs I would take it in a heartbeat.

The more i look at the draft board, the more i think marner could slip. No way toronto takes him after taking nylander and having kadri. Not even the Shanahan influence could make that work.

Then you have carolina who has no need for a diminutive forward. If he is there at 6 nj takes him, but there is a chance we could swap with carolina. We would have to give up a future 2nd and a 3rd rounder to make it work but i would do that

So #7+2nd rounder+3rd rounder for Marner? I'd do that but I think Carolina could get more.

NJ might even reach for another guy... Lou has gone a bit senile judging by his recent personnel moves.

While I don't know if you are int his camp, why do people around here clamor about BPA BPA BPA, then when they talk about other teams its always..."Nah, they have centers/wingers/defensemen/goalies/whatever, they won't take him."

BPA is fine. But marner fits a skill set thatt is very redundant in toronto. Small skilled 1 dimensional players.

I agree, you have to think these terrible teams can't be picky.

That doesn't mean they won't go off the board a bit, but if this kid Marner is really good and a high probability to hit the pros at a high skill level, who cares what they have already, especially if he may be better than those players. They can always trade those players to make room.

Grossmann or LSchenn for a 3rd rounder would be good.

L Schenn was probably just worth a 2nd rounder to begin with .....sadly he probably does only net a 3rd. If Berube stays... Grossmann stays most likely....but yeah having the both of them is redundant.

The one way a player like Marner or Strome fall to us is by another team reaching for someone. Hopefully Carolina and New Jersey's draft boards look completely different then ours.

Mark Hunter is in Toronto now. Think he passes on Marner just because they have Nylander and Kadri?

I would love to somehow grab Marner. We would have to start feeding him massive amounts of grilled cheese sandwiches though to get that weight up so he can come to the NHL level quicker. Thats about the only thing holding him back.

It's tough to get on Crouse bandwagon when you have players like Werenski, Barzal, and even Zacha on board. I would take their potential over his. Werenski is still the guy I would take if there isn't a top forward on the board. I have no problems stocking up the pipelines with top notch defensive prospects. We can always hit on a forward later in the first or even with the second or third rounders we have. We will just have to wait a little longer for them to develop.

Calling it now: Devils will be getting a guy right in front of the Flyers who we all want (hint: Marner).

Feels bad man.

Where we pick is sweet. This team needs all the good prospects we can land so there is no reason to package picks just to move up a few spots unless it is for 1 or 2. We are going to get a really good prospect at 7 or 8. This draft is so deep, one of the best in years so I am just putting my faith in Ron and the scouting department to do the right thing. Now lets hope we get lucky the 18th!

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. I can't see Hunter, who will be named GM before the Draft when Nonis is fired, passing on Marner - unless of course he prefers Strome too. If anyone knows Marner, it's him.

And then while that player develops over a few years, this board will be calling for Ron's head because someone picked after them will be having more immediate success. Especially if it's a player everyone on here likes (Rantanen or the Dmen)
