Maybe some offensive help would be nice. But then, Lehkonen stays in Europe for another year. We are SO not ready to welcome him. We don't welcome offense.
Do you think montreal that after one more year in the NCAA, he'd be ready to make the jump to the AHL? And how does he compare to MacMillan in terms of skills? They sound like they're similar players in terms of style but do you see Evans' being skilled enough to have an impact at the next level?
Interesting info montreal, thanks for taking the type to reply.
And I can't say I don't feel the same way NotProkofievian, I had such hopes for Quailer before his injury and he was barely an AHLer. Seems like none of our picks from the NCAA have amounted to anything like you've pointed out. Hopefully Evans (and MacMillan) can turn that trend around for us.
so how excited should we be about Lehkonen?
Moderately. He's a smart and useful player, and IMO, smart enough to play his game in the NHL. However, his game could also just totally not translate, or he could get destroyed by some AHL ogre. But I like him as a prospect.
Thanks, NP. is he comparable to Hudon? Do you like one more than the other?

Still think Reway is our best scoring prospect although Scherbak when healthy is right there. Hudon and Lehkonen are up there as well.
Agreed. Reway is bonkers with the puck.
I hope we don't give up on him or his attitude issues are too much of a problem. I just have a bad feeling that we won't sign him or something stupid. I'm not 100% that he's an NHLer but we have to give the kid a proper shot imo. It would just be stupid not to.
I don't see that as a big issue, I'm more concerned about money and him coming over to play in the AHL when he can make a lot more in the Euro leagues. Granted we'll just have to see how it plays out.
I'm less concerned about that now that he's playing in the swiss league. He has to come over at some point to learn the small ice game, but in the meantime he's playing in a good league, against good competition.
Got to think he's going to get a nice chunk of change from either a KHL or NLA team next year and beyond. That's what concerns me, that he'll get so much money in the Euro leagues that he won't want to come over to the AHL for 70K. Yes he's playing in a good league and doing well and for now there's no problem but we'll see what happens after this season as to what kind of money he gets and how it impacts him the following off season when we have to sign him or lose his rights.
Lehkonen keeps piling up the points with an assist on Frolunda's 1st goal early in the 1st period.
It'd be nice to see him play in the AHL next year, but I think he comes over in 2017. It'd be great if MB got in touch with him.
This guy either has to be used for us or a value for a trade. Can't believe they didn't ask him to come over next year.
Adding mass and strength is what he needs to worry about right now, no harm in leaving him in what may be the 2nd best league in the world under a good coach vs being in the AHL on a crowded roster and a bad coach imo.
Do we know how they are trained over there? As far as AHL and crowed roster well sorry, but if I think he's a serious prospect, he's playing top 6. This AHL team do not have enough top players to not make room for 1 more. Especially not next year when at one poitn, some decision will need to happen for Ghetto and Lessio who each have to go through waivers next year. Are we going to re-live another Tinordi moment with Ghetto?
