From what I understand Butcher is likely but I didn't get to see the game today. He's a PP specialist and they cut the other bubble puck moving D. No other Avs, Bigras and Butcher are it.

Caught the last 15 minutes of the SWE/CAN game(too busy watch pedro beasting it)

From reading the comments in WJC forum it looks like Bigras had a game to forget(although it might be idiots or oiler homers) Just looking at the highlites he did look bad on the Burakovsky goal.

It seems that Sweden pretty much dominated Canada too.

well it tells a lot when you give up 3 goals and the best player of the game is your goalie.

bigras wasn't great but i think the main board is going little overboard with him. that said i expect more from him.

dumba might get suspended so canada could be forced to start short on D.

Butcher made the USA roster, they are down to 7 D now.

The Canada fans need to calm down. :shakehead

I don't think that's possible.

I used to love the swiss jerseys but the ones they're wearing in this game are disgusting. They have ads on them and their cross is a smaller one to the left side. When I think of the Swiss I always associate them with their white jersey/cross.

Not impressed by Bigras again...though wow, Dumba is terrible. Hopefully we don't have to see Bigras play with Dumba ever again. That pairing is a mess.

I really don't like Bigras so far. Always seems to be out of position or making the wrong play. But I haven't seen enough to be disappointed. I'll watch him more, but so far, really not impressed.

USA vs CZE on NHL Network right now.

Butcher just buried a PP goal to make it 2-0. Came in back door and buried a great feed.

Butcher should have had another goal if it wasn't for a quick whistle.

Not exactly sure what I thought of Butcher's game right now. It was a real mixed bag IMO. Made some solid plays with his stick, but seemed to get lost in the defensive zone frequently and didn't handle getting pressured well. On the other side he makes a really nice first pass and has great offensive instincts for the game that he really showed off. Basically he looked really raw, but has enough talent offensively to contribute to the team.

In other words, another JM Liles...lite?

His passing and ability to finish are projected to be much better than JML's ever was. He just seems to find the man with his pass so well sometimes that it catches the teammate off guard. He looks like he could have been drafted to specifically play the style Roy wants.

Finnish interview with Butcher: http://www.jatkoaika.com/Haastattelu/teurastaja-will-butcher-minun-pitäisi-jäähyillä-enemmän/153427

My translation:

- About the game

"I played just like the coaches wanted, which was to move the puck up and down the ice. It's great that our team started the tournament with a game, in which we overskated the opponent. Our goalie Jon Gillies made some important saves, when we had tough moments, but otherwise we played a mature game."

- About Avs

"I can definitely see my future [with Avalanche]. I continue to work hard for a spot in the NHL and hopefully some day I'll meet the requirements. The team is full of great players already and it's not easy to crack into."

- About Canadian fans and rivalry

"They have a lot of fans here, who don't like us. But you know, I think it's fun! Adversity only makes us stronger. They brought a great atmosphere to the building tonight. There's definitely a rivalry between our teams, that is at its biggest in these junior-tournaments. But we plan to win the gold medal this year as well [laughing]"

- About his last name

"Yes, I hear about it a lot and the violent image of it. Maybe I should take more penalties, like d-men usually do. I think I'm too disciplined for that, though. [smiling]"

Rough translation, probably not his exact words.
