you win.
I feel like you are arguing with yourself here and somehow I have come out on top... hooray for me

I think more people came around to Kakko after we came 2nd
so there was absolutely no purpose for your initial response to me pointing out that we've missed in six of seven in that it doesn't change reality nor does it positively affect any outcome of a discussion based on the fact that the devils haven't been good since 2012. cool, thanks.
Not really, I mean, I think more people came around to Kakko after we came 2nd, but there 100% was still a big fraction of the fan-base who wanted Kakko.
And way to absolutely ignore the second part and more important aspect of my response, but Hughes can be the consensus (no longer the unanimous) and Kakko still be in the same league as prospects. They aren't mutually exclusive. I have no idea why you started this argument. lol
We need as much offensive talent as possible. We're still in the acquiring talent phase outside of goalies. If we had number 1, we'd go BPA, whether that was Hughes or Kakko, I have no idea.I feel like Jack Hughes would be a far better fit for the rangers and the last thing your team needs is another big bodied skill winger but thats just me maybe Zib is a true 1 and (insert winger playing center here) is a true 2C.
I see you're just going to ignore my second and more important point entirely. That's fine. I hope Hughes works out fantastic for you and that the NYR/NJD rivalry heats up with Kakko vs Hughes on ice.Correct; and Germany came around to surrender after Berlin was invaded.

It was exactly there. Everyone we wanted got drafted ahead of us. Looking back in retrospect, who should we have honestly taken that was viewed in a similar draft range?Where was that strategy with Lias Andersson

I certainly haven't given up on him, but thankfully Chytil was a very good pick and all 3 of our 1st round selections in 2018 have been great in their D+1 years.

Yeah he won 'cause he's right.
Don't be like that, man.
You said this was our worst period since the 1980s....
...well up till the year we finally got back to the playoffs...which is what @Scooooooooooooot 's point was.
Andersson was ranked 12th I believe by Bob, so it was certainly a slight reach, but as I mentioned earlier, ALL of our primary targets were selected before us. But then we picked Chytil, and all 3 of our 1st round selections seem like hits judging their D+1 years. I certainly see a lot more good than bad with our prospect pool.Nobody had Andersson as a top 10 talent or even a top 10 player in that draft, it was very similar to the same thinking of the Devils 2016 pick. They picked the guy with a high floor and low ceiling because no one they wanted fell to them. To who you should have taken I would have take every single player taken after Andersson until maybe pick 22 (Yamamoto).

I'd still take Hughes 1, as well, but as I've been saying since the WHC and as Bob pretty much confirmed, they're similar level prospects and at a VERY high level. Not often that's the case in a draft which makes this one unique.I'm sure there is.
Many feel that Kakko is just about as finished a product as you can get from a young player and with fans today being all about instant-gratification, they WOULD like to have a player like that to just be inserted into the line-up from day one and be effective.
Still want Hughes though.

i'm not going to pretend that one playoff appearance and a single win since we last went to the final is good enough or up to the standard i hold this organization to, but that's just me.
and as a loyal fan [and paying customer] i'm entitled to that.
I take Bob's list the most serious, so for me, he was always a top 12-15 prospect. Kravstov is going to be a stud, Miller is going to be a stud, and Nils likely is going to be a very good top 4 d-man (not sure I see top pair upside there yet, but that's fine for a late 1st rounder). Also traded for Fox and have Kakko/Hughes and 2 2nds this draft. I'm very pleased with the job we've done in rebuilding. He was ranked anywhere from 11 to 26, Bob had him at 13 and no one had him in the top 10. Chytil is a solid prospect and 2 of the 3 in 2018 I think can be very good. Still need a star Center in my mind and Im not sure what the plan is down the middle moving forward.

Nico is going to be very, very good, but it's universally agreed that Kakko/Hughes are on a different league as prospects entering the draft.Yeah. This isn't exactly Nico vs. Patrick this year.
While I love Nico, I feel that in comparison to this draft....well....the Nico draft in 2017 is akin to drafting the Best of the Rest.
(to all the Nico fans out there.... @OmNomNom , please don't kill me. )

Agree about needing another long-term answer at C alongside Zib, but it's possible one of the young kids can fill that role. We will see though.
only thing i'm still mad at you for is for mistaking me for a womanYeah. This isn't exactly Nico vs. Patrick this year.
