The Dark Side Of The Goon
Judging by the OPS responses in this thread.... This is going to get ugly fast.
You can't get a Top 4D for spare parts. Which is all that's being listed here.
Dumba for a 1st + B prospect? Come on....
This year the value isn't as high on guys with the expansion draft coming up, Covid quarantines, and the cap not rising.
If the Jets did land a top 4 D and pay a hefty price to get him, one would assume that player would need to be protected in the expansion draft. Exposing another guy from the team. So on top of what was given up they will in a sense be losing another valuable player as well if they wanted to protect their new asset.
I don't think many moves will be made this trade deadline at all really. A lot of teams will just choose to ride out this weird season and start making moves once scouts etc can actually start watching guys live again.
The Jets upper management are ultra conservative to begin with and now that the Laine problem is put to bed I can see them just sitting back for now in knowing we have Stanley, Heinola, and Samberg knocking on the door and to a lesser extent Sami Niku. This is all just my opinion of course and may be totally wrong and off base.
