Yeah, from the OP, to the recent bump....Loving it
I sit right there and I love watching Rask

I love assessing goalies and my Malcolm Subban scouting report can be found in early October after the Chicago game

He was being major shit on so I took a chance going against the HF mob but as they say in darts - that was a bullseye by me :thumbu:

One argument is rask got overpaid... so lets look at the 23 goalies you might argue could be a starter who got moved since rask signed... and see how many guys on this list would we prefer

Corey schneider 6 mill...
Marc andre fleury 5.75
Mike smith 5.66
Frederick anderson 5
Ben bishop 4.916
Devan dubnyk 4.33
Craig anderson 4.2
Cam talbot 4.166
Scott darling 4.15
Steve mason 4.1
Robin lehner 4
Peter mrazek 4
Jacob markstrom 3.66
James reimer 3.4
Tomas griess 3.4
Martin jones 3
Johnathon bernier 2.75
Brian elliot 2.75
Eddy lack 2.75
Chad johnson 2.5
Ryan miller 2
Carter hutton 1.25
Annti raanta 1.1

Is there more than 1 name on this list that the rask haters will accept as an improvement? 2 names? 3?

If a team has a good goalie... they dont let him go.

This is the list of guys you are stuck with if you tried to find a starting goalie the past 5 years

For the money I’d take 4 over rask. He’s been pretty inconsistent this season. Sometimes he’s shown how good he can be, and others he’s been a little underwhelming. This playoff run will tell me whether or not he’s worth it. If he wins the bruins games per series they shouldn’t win, that’s a step in the right direction.

Um, does that means he loses the games they should win, and you'd be okay? Or does he have to win every single game, just to be moving in the right direction?

Honestly, as a fan, you have to stoop pretty low to go to the cess pit that is the main boards just to find enough people to agree with you on Rask because it's a sure thing you'll find plenty there to shit on anything Bruins related

Buncha Benedict Arnolds if you ask me

for most of that crowd it seems like they're happier if Rask has an off game and the B's lose than if he plays lights out and they win. They'd rather be "right" than happy. it's depressing.

Rask was unreal tonight against the Wild. Absolutely stole the game.

Rask was great last game.

Posting to show I’m not rooting for him to fail (and can admit the times I am wrong) just to say I was ‘right’.

I’ve always been firmly in the corner of wanting to be wrong about him so as to be able to celebrate the good times (but fess up at the same time).

Not every single game. Great goalies win games the team was outplayed in. He should do that a couple of times in the playoffs

I think it's really just the fear he'll eventually "blow" an important game and they'd rather get rid of him by convincing us all he's not worth the cap than suffer that possible fate

But the reality is hockey is very much a team game and you need to outscore the opponent to win, not get scored on never

The defense needs to step up and play hard to ensure there are no goals, Rask can only do so much. In that regard, Rask has been near the top of my list as far as criticisms go this season. I at one point also felt he wasn't worth his cap and didn't have a ton of faith in him not to let in some softies and deflate the team.

But after all that has happened this season, my faith is back up there with where it is for most of the players on this team, Rask clearly was playing injured and now he isn't and the whole team is playing better. So personally I think worrying about Rask and constantly making posts to point out that he's not that good is hugely wasted energy at this point

Rask was looking a bit like Tim Thomas out there. I like when he gets away from that butterfly style a in some cases. He made some great saves.

yeah, he should do something like say stop a breakaway when down 4-2 with 3:30 to go in a game 7 that they come back and win...if only he did that

Great goalies also lose games the team is outplayed in- they keep their teams in it when they shouldn't be- Tuuka has done that several times this season, including last night.

That was like 5 years ago in that game 7. He was great in those playoffs. I would like him to do that again. Tuukka has been great at times this year and he’s been not very good at times. His last 3 playoff appearances his stats have gone down. They started astronomically high in 12-13, in which played at an elite level. He was still excellent in 13-14, and he was very good last playoffs. If he’s very good again this season I’ll be happy. .928 sv%, 2.24 gaa, perfectly acceptable, very good numbers. Worthy of top goalie money. His numbers this year regular season are better than they were last season, and his playoffs always seem to improve upon his regular season. So I expect the same as last year or better. A 2.24 and a .928.

If Boston gets peppered and have no business winning and tuukka can’t save them I’m fine with that. But in a tightly contested series against a goalie like Matt Murray or Anderson or luongo, I’d like tuukka to decidedly perform better than his counterpart regardless of the final score. I hope he does.

By those measures, it would appear as though Rask has been the best postseason goaltender in the NHL since 2013. You might say, “OK, but the 2013 postseason run was absurd. Surely, since then, it’s been nothing but a calamity in net for the Bruins in the playoffs.
