Depends... way below 500 to start then <20 games...near 500 30+ games, above 500 and still in the fight to the end but miss out then the whole season and fired after that. Make the playoffs and he gets a 3 year extension then they miss again the next year so he gets fired and gets 2.5 years of free money not to coach.
