but... why?

He's good, I guess, but I don't see him as the answer

Never been so disappointed about a season as this one. I do truly give thanks that McDavid is so entertaining to watch because it has allowed me to enjoy the game still when I usually wouldn’t have watched the last 40.

Thank you, Edmonton for showing the twins the best treatment they deserved. I can’t imagine another team doing it so well, especially given that you’ve seen them at their best (while at your worst) and the tides are shifting the other way.

Tonight just made it a lot easier to root for the Northern neighbours. I hope that you guys get back on the right track, I don’t know if I can handle Winnipeg being the crown of Western canada.
I was genuinely sad that it was their last game and happy that they got to play their last game here, nvm that though... their last game in van couldnt have been any more properly scipted for themselves and the fans. You can tell their character as people by giving the game puck to Dorsett who had his career finished earlier than anticipated, their love for the city, community work etc.

I hate that they torched us all the time in their prime, but at their best... their passing and general play was majestic... almost as majestic as spongebob on this seahorse.

I love this sport.

I am not even excited for the season to be over because the off seasons have been just as dissapointing. If we see some firings than I may be excited again but I'm not holding my breath. Completely expecting to feel the same way this time next year except no Art Ross for McDavid

This game, for the most part, was like watching paint dry
McDavid line. Magic. A+
God is Hopkins back to his rookie year. He’s a stud again.
Lucic – This guy could not complete a pass if his life depended on it. Utter garbage.
Pool Party – This guys looks like he is actually regressing. Absolutely useless player right now. He should not even be in the line up. Completely aloof. No idea where to go, what to do, etc. He is so lost it’s not even funny.
Cagguila – What a tire fire this guy is. As usual, completely dumbfounded idiotic passes and plays. Can’t hit the broad side of the barn.
Kass/Slep, etc. – Nothing players. Don’t do anything that contribute. Just a waste of space.
Drai – Another whatever game from him.
Russell – Call this clown the stifler. This idiot shuts down so many plays with his panic plays.
Bear – Our BEST dmen IMO right now. Guy actually has an IQ
Larsson – He was good
Benning – See Ruselll and Cagguila
Talbot – Great
Strome – meh
Khaira – working hard as usual
Nurse – Good overall1 or 2 goals from what I seen.
Lowe – He could have had
Refs – How many high sticks are you going to ignore?
I wonder what goes on in McDavids brain when he s surrounded by such sh** p;ayers. I guess he could be thinking “Hot gf, I’m loaded, life could be worse” lol
If Chia trades Hopkins, he needs to be escorted out of this city and punched in the face
Jokinen – GARBAGE TRASH WITH EDMONTON AND HIS NEXT TEAM. Then he decides to try in Vancouver. Can’t stand guys like him. Go f*** off and retire bud. Must like being around Swedes.

This crap is unbelievable. Drai setup his linemates 10 times today. He scored a goal, hammered the winner home in the shootout and was arguably the best player on the ice while playing with NO ONE.

His linemates tonight have a combined 7 goals in all of 2018. He set them up so many times it was laughable. Whats else is he supposed to do?

Khaira gets a higher grade than Draisaitl on the night? omfg. Jujhar's sole responsibility tonight seemed to be blowing scoring chances. its been around 20 games since he potted one.

At least you were right on Pulju and Cagg.

Man I'm glad the season is over and its an end to reading game reviews like this one.

I saw this post on reddit, and it really hammers home just how screwed we are next year...

RNH Mcdavid Rattie
Lucic Drai JP
Caguilla Strome Aberg
Kassian Khaira Pak

Klef Larsson
Nurse New guy
Russel Sekera
Benning

This is how i see it playing out next season because of a lack of cap space, and a lack of trading chips.

The top line will be fine. Second line would require a huge bounce back from lucic, and a big step forward from JP.

Third line might get 30 goals total playing together consistently with a bit of PP time like this year.

Fourth line might score 20 total.

if Drai lucic and JP can manage 60 between them (which is very optimistic) i'd call that a success.

Klef Larsson - best seasons to date would be 16 goals total

Nurse whoever - assume this new Dman is offensively our best and can score 15. Combined with 10 from nurse because I'm optimistic is 25 goals.

Sekera Russel - career best seasons together would be 18, but playing as the third pairing, ill go with 15. Still optimistic.

Benning - lets go with 5 since i hope he doesn't play as much as this year.

That means the top line needs to score 60 goals in order to reach 250 goals, which is what the Avs have this year, and would put us top 10 in goals for. Assuming Mcdavid is good for 40, Nuge for 25, rattie would need 14.
so to get a +16 in goal differential which Colorado has this year, we would also need to reduce our goal total on the season to 234.

So talbot and our backup would need to allow 26 less goals on the season total.

So if everyone rebounds to near career best seasons offensively, JP turns into a 20 goal scorer, rattie can stick in the NHL and score 14 goals, Lucic goes back to 20+ goal form, we pick up a Dman who's good for 15 goals, Talbot and his backup play at the rate of an average goaltender at least, and no injuries occur, we'd be sitting where the avalanche are next year, assuming everyone else stays exactly the same.

All of this to make it to the playoffs as the last seed. Chia has his work cut out for him..

Yamamoto will not only be on the team on day 1, but in the top six. Book it. 15 goals from a new D-Man? Good luck with that.

Saving this post.

If he is and if Pool party is in the top 6, flush it down the toilet. I'd say Lucic too.

He was in the top six *this season*, lol, why do people think he's not gonna be there next year?

He skates better than any non-center and has more skill than anyone aside the three Cs too.

He's going to make the team easily out of camp. Who's gonna stop him? Caggiula? Lucic? lol. Kailer will skate circles around these guys at camp.

Props for the Sedins send off, I was surprised how loud the arena got, but Edmonton fans are passionate about hockey and appreciate great players.

Ushering the Sedin children onto the bench and the family in the tunnel was a nice touch by the organization as well.

Oilers remembered well that the Sedins stayed to congratulate Ryan Smyth when it was his last game.

Just popping in to say how awesome the Oilers fans and team were in giving the Sedins a great send off. Didn't see any fans rushing to leave their seats at the end. Instead it was a lot of cheers. Classy all the way.

But darn it, it was one Kriss Russel OT, goal-saving dive away from 100% perfect. :D But 99.9% ain't too bad. Great job Edmonton.

You said the top line needs to score 60 goals. 40 + 25 is 65.
