can we just find a spot for him in the top 6 for a game or so. because it looks like he might need more ice time to feel more involved

I'd put him on the line with Hayes and Miller. Move Grabner down.
Didn't AV indicate it might not be permanent or did I imagine something?Uh...can we lock this and go back to the original Buch thread?
It's almost like AV is a decent coach who has some idea what he's doing. Maybe...

We're crediting AV for being forced to call up Buch?
When AV sees a young guy with special tools who isn't performing he benches him, relegates him to the fourth line or sends him down. And those guys seems to end up responding.

I'm a little more inclined to chalk this up to: Good player finally players with other good players, scores goal; than I am getting sent to the AHL for a game.
But. Whatever. We won. Buch scored. Why fight.
Sometimes you have to play the long game. You get a potentially special player who isn't getting it done and you gotta show him tough love. Miller, Kreider.
Vesey doesn't have the upside of Buch. AV handles him differently. Treating everyone fairly doesn't mean treating everyone the same.
I dunno, seems like AV gets the most out of his young guys. Might not always make sense or seem logical but it works. You can chalk it up to luck or coincidence but I think it's more that AV knows what he's doing.
He played 6 games in a row (?) right before his demotion with Nash and Zibanejad. Vesey played himself into the spot bc Buch hadn't been doing anything with it, then Buch got demoted. Well before he scored the goal, Buch was obviously playing better than his last time in the top-6
I think a huge part of what AV is looking for out of young players is play without the puck and making good decisions with it in general. I think they get benched or sent down far more often because of that than lack of scoring at times
Consistency will come from regular play time and confidence.
He's still a rookie playing on a new continent.
Heck, he's still working on learning English. That will also help him a lot.
