I was really excited when this game was first announced. I was planning on going but the worst part of all these outdoor games is that the $400+ tickets are as close as the low 300's at CTC... And for the bargain price of $150/ticket, you can be basically sitting on Bank st. Even the best seat in the house is so far from the ice.

On top of that, with the way they're playing now, no way in hell am I shelling out $300-400 to go see this bunch of lazy bums.

Agreed, if anything, we should cheer him.

That trade literally set up our team for almost a decade.

That trade spoiled me as a kid. I ended up assuming you could just keep being good forever by making trades like that and when Spezza's time to go came up we could just do it again.

Sigh.

Sigh.

No trade clauses becoming the norm and the salary cap killed the days of being able to sell off high end players like that imo.

Without NTC, we'd have gotten a solid return for Redden (rumoured Marleau back around 2008), a much better deal for Spezza as well. We'd have also been in the running for Nash in 2012, which I guess would have been a bit of a miss. There are probably some other missed opportunities (Phaneuf could be in Vegas right now)

Needless to say, I dislike NTC and NMC. I wish the next CBA would be far more restrictive in how they are used but it would probably never happen.

On the topic of the game, I agree that I hope nobody boos Yashin. He was a solid player for us, and we got a killer return when we traded him. I always laid more of the blame on his agent myself.

another omission Chris Neil. Guess he's not hanging them up
I have no inside information, but I'd be shocked if he wasn't asked. Assuming that, I can only guess that he turned down the opportunity because the optics would indicate he's like everyone else on that roster – retired. And he's still hanging in there hoping for one last hurrah.

Good to see Yashin back, this team has had too little Russian flair over the years.
Rolling my eyes at Donovan and Robitaille, and sad no Kovalev...that would have made the whole event.
