No worries because Leafs aren't offering that. Well keep our worthless pieces in your eyes. The 18 year old RH offensive D with 3 points in 4 AHL games so far (new to North America) our 1st and 20 goal scoring/PKing Brown who just scored back to back game winners for us. It's all good.

McD is a #1 D on top of his cheap deal. 3-4 games doesn't sky rocket another players value.

No but it takes more than one guy to win it all, that's 3 good pieces to us, cost controlled plus depth when we pay the big guys. They might amount to nothing but at the end of the day adding Dermott/Lily + forwards Kappy and keeping Brown, drafting another good C in 18 might be just as good. I'd rather us look for a Braun/Muzzin and not give up the multiple pieces for 1. I'm quite good with that. I'm not in a rush.

Plus Kappy who scores a couple of big goals against the Caps in the playoffs, can't make the team at the moment because we have Marner on the 4th line.
Did I call your defensemen worthless? Did I call anybody worthless? McDonagh is on a good contract for 2 more years. He's our captain and many consider him a #1D. If we're trading him, it should be for something established.

And I don't really care if you hate the deal for the leafs. Doesn't change the fact that Rangers would be absolutely stupid to do that.

The problem was the use of the word firesale in the title. Sort of sets up a bad expectation. Maybe NYR looking to rebuild would have made more sense?

You are well in your rights to love your players and seek all you can for them. The problem with this board sometimes is when the other side feels it's just gotten to rich and says we gotta back out. It's not a slight to your player. Like for us that's a 1st round pick in 18, a kid who was just drafted this year (and the new style NHL protypical fast skating, puck moving, offensive minded RHD) a kid who scores 20 goals from the 3rd and 4th lines and that's still not good enough. Again that's not a slight to McD who I think is fantastic just not going to do it.
Leafs have spent a career moving multiple 1sts and the Tukka Rasks, can't go down that road. This team needs to see how the players they drafted for a reason follow through.

I would think a Ranger fan would want to trade Lundqvist if they are really thinking they are not going to be a Cup Contender for the duration of his career, I am guessing you are still able to get a decent return for him and I am sure the Ranger fans would root for him on his new team like how I am sure the Bruin fans all became Avalanche fans when Bourque was traded

I really don't understand most ranger fans. Most I hear from don't want to trade Lunqvist when they absolutely should.

That said, as a 35 year old declining goalie with 4 years left at 8.5M/year, who is giving anything of value for that contract...Or anything at all?

I am loving the irony of this coming from a devils fan. Do you happen to remember your opening lineup last season?

i do. but they never tanked. it was just a thin lineup for various reasons. they won the lottery last season. they werent the worst team in the league last year. they didnt get it done late but most games they lost they were still in the game. this is just pitiful from the rangers. i know its an unpopular opinion but i can see exactly what the rangers are up to. and its a disgrace. if you are a ranger fan just be happy only the rangers have the chutzpah to do this. as i said they are stallin for dahlin. whats one year?

I dont want Dahlin, I want Svechnikov !!
This exactly. It's an unpopular opinion but I don't want the 1OV. I don't think there's room for Dahlin. Give me Svech or Tkachuk.

I find it laughable that anybody thinks we're tanking. No, we're just really stupid with and without the puck.

Who on earth doesn't want the clear cut best player in the 18 draft? That is ridiculous? Even if you had six number 1 defenceman, you still take him, becuase he projects to be extremely good. Analysis of Dahlin has him well ahead of anyone else in this years draft.

An obviously objective opinion if I've ever seen one.

No doubt, the Rangers have done nothing roster wise that indicates a tanking maneuver. He should post back when they trade 4 or 5 players with diminishing returns.

yes I agree, the blue shirts are not in tank mode. I saw a team pretty damm hungry in that 3rd period. They are just too good to be last overall. Now can they win the lottery? sure can, but what are there 72 games left.....??

2-6-2 thru 10. Obviously early for a real sell off but things are not looking good. Don't see much of a rebound this season.

The Rangers are a dumpster fire. They need to identify 4 or so players to stick with and tear it down.

Lundqvist obviously would make sense to move but no one is going to want his contract relative to his current performance and he probably prefers to retire a Ranger. That's fine, but we shouldn't stay in "win now mode to try and honor him. Understand we're going to rebuild and if we tear the team in front of him down, he won't perform at a level that hinders us from drafting highly.

McDonagh and Zucc are strong assets that don't have much term left. They should be moved. Zibanejad is on a new contract but I can see there being strong interest, especially if he can keep being a lone bright spot. Fine with keeping him as well. Shattenkirk seems unlikely to be moved so quick after signing but I honestly couldn't care less if he stays or goes. He's a PP specialist, basically.

No one is untouchable, IMO. But if I were deciding who to keep:

1. Shestyorkin: looks like a legit future starter, goalies don't have big trade value, let alone unproven ones, and you're never likely to have a better G prospect in your system. Keep him for sure.

2. Chytil: just drafted, looked very promising just days after turning 18 in NHL action. Probably one of the highest end prospects we've had in a long time.

3. Buchnevich: looks very good, is the type of high end talent Rangers need, still super young so a rebuild coincides with his age.

4. Andersson: like Chytil, just drafted at #7 no less so it's a no brainer to hold onto him and see how his development goes.

5. Skjei: young D with highest upside and already good NHL experience, seems like a leader, should keep.

6. Miller: versatile, aggressive forward who can play all positions and slot anywhere in the top-nine and take any assignment and is young enough to fit into a rebuild.

That's really it for me. Three roster players and three prospects and I wouldn't even say you absolutely have to keep Miller, Buch or even Skjei depending on the deal. Fine with keeping Zibanejad as well. All of the Hayes, Vesey, Nash, Smith, etc. need to go along with the big names.

Can't see Lundqvist going anywhere. Can't see Shattenkirk moving this quickly unless you tell him you're going into rebuild and he says okay, cool, move me too.

Tear it down.

Was only a matter of time before they fell, given 4 years without a First Rd pick in a cap world.
